hello every one, a little history on me. im 46 male. living in central missouri. married with 2 boys grown & moved out.... i think??!!! lol...wife loosing her mind trying to figure out what to do with herself. i'm ex military 7 years. been in the construction industry for past 22 years. the past 6 years self employed. but recently everything has completely come to a halt. considering a new career in trucking.... as i've read in alot of these posts, it appears to be more of a lifestyle change more than anything. i've spent the past week on blogs & websites reviewing driving schools & trucking companys. based upon my research, i'm leaning towards conway/cfi & crowders driving school in neosho, mo. My biggest concern is not me,i'm a survivor. what concerns me is how this is going to effect my wife.. i've discussed this with her & i can tell she's very concerned. i've explained to her the 1st year is the toughest. the time away from home appears to big the big issue. any inpute or suggestions from any of you who have made this transition would be appreciated...

    thanks, john

    Hi!
Why not get your wife to post on here, and ask questions? Like pony says, there is the Ladies Room, where we all yap while we are 'home alone', and its probably the best place to start. Here's one thread for starters, which I'm guessing asks the same question she wants to -

If either you or her have a specific question and can't find an answer here, try posting a new thread, it might take a day or two to get a range of replies but they will all be honest and hopefully useful.

Hey, I am starting over after 18 years spent in a chemical plant here in Houston. Leaving April 14th for Central Tech. in Drumright OK. Am going with Conway out of Joplin Mo. Wife and son are behind me 100% but still hard to leave them for about 3 months looks like. Son is 12 and my best buddy.Wife and I have been thru 28 years and had our share of up and down. Thought I would retire from the plant at 65 or so and golf but didn't work out (all jobs lie)now at 55 I am starting a new career and something I all ways wanted to do. Have talked to Christine and am really up for this.So any one have any hints to get thru the first year for me and the family give a heads up. Thanks

I agree the wives need to join in and find out first hand what it's like from us vetrans. those of you with no kids at home be sure and find a company that will let your wives go with you.

Some will even allow your kids to go during those school vacations.

I went with my husband for 18 years and loved almost all of it.

If you like to travel and be in a different place every day you will love it. Why don't you take your wife to trucking school with you and drive team... LOL!!

    Goodluck.
