Delivered drop 1 of 2 at 7am. Second drop is 15 miles away at 11am. Pulled out of first drop and a brake chamber gives, so my brakes are locked up. Figure there is no way I'm making that 2nd appointment. About an hour later, a field mechanic shows up by request. Took about 30 min to replace the brake chamber. Made second appointment with plenty of time to spare. Awwww yeah!

Sitting here at Feildale. Just waiting. There’s no Magnum trailer here, so I’ll be live loading. Checked in and got everyone’s favorite line “just head out to your truck and we’ll get you when we’re ready.”

Detention is easy money, hopefully youll get a decent amount.
-
That it is.
Since I’m hoping to leave around midnight I’m gonna grab myself a nap. Plus, it usually works out that right when you’re about to fall asleep is when you get the knock on your door.Zata40 Thanks this. -
You really like that detention, don't you? Lol
-
Lol even gets included in your recruiting salary estimate as part of your total compensation...
-
Who doesnt love detention? I love getting paid to watch TV on my phone.

Not sure why everyone is so "happy" about detention pay. Driving at an average speed of 55 mph, even at .45 cpm is $24.75/hr...sitting for endless hours at a dock at $15ish an hour. So, every hour you sit at the dock with your 14 counting down, you are losing money, or losing the opportunity to make better money. Instead of paying detention, maybe they should make a real effort to work with the customer to lessen the amount of time sitting there instead of just billing them for detention, and paying you a small portion of it. Some sitting is inevitable in trucking, but cutting down excessive sitting is beneficial to the company as well as the driver.
dwells40, Winnyf1, STexan and 1 other person Thank this. -
Some people are lazy and would rather work for $15 an hour playing Xbox or watching Netflix. Me, if I’m rolling I’m making $91 an hour. The average company drivers making $31 to $32.

I agree. I think I put in for detention only once or twice last year, only ran 117k (paid) miles, but grossed $79k+. Work with the customer to keep me rolling instead of coddling them when they make me sit excessively.runningman0661 Thanks this.
