Yeh, I was wondering who they had to pay off for that 50 best managed
company crap. Glad to see they are needing so many drivers. Maybe
they will wake up and start treating their drivers better............hahaha
sorry, just woke up, probably still dreaming, I have 18 years and a
perfect saftey record and I'm so disgusted with trucking companies I'm
driving a cab in Prince George BC......it pays better!

Well unfortunately as good or bad as they may seem form folk on here and what I have heard, I have to keep applying as they are one of the few companies that do take new drivers and offer the new driver training type of thing.

I have worked for several companies like that and they generally pay you just enough to keep you alive and driving the truck. If you don't have many bills, you'll probably do ok as long as they can keep you loaded. There are things you will really enjoy and things you will hate. You're pretty much out on your own and you can get used to the trucking lifestyle. It's not great if you have to sit in a truckstop for 3 days waiting for a load instead of going to your kids hockey game. The trucking companies don't care much about what you need and don't have any quams about replacing you. Drivers are pretty much a variable expense that has to be tolerated until someone figures out how to make the trucks drive themselves. If you go in knowing this, you can find things in the job you like and just know that's the way it is and you're not going to change it. I enjoyed it much more when I bought my own truck, but you really have to know what you are doing before taking that leap and you should drive for a company for several years first and understand how the business works or you will go broke. Also, DO NOT do a lease purchase through a trucking company. Trust me, the lease purchase is worse than being a company driver. It was created to provide another revenue stream for the trucking company and to shift some of the expenses onto the driver's shoulders. It's a bad deal for the driver.

If you do what the company tells you (ie. pickup and deliver your loads on time, keep your logs correct, don't damage the equipment, accept the loads they give you, don't ##### too much, conserve fuel etc.), you will probably do ok with Bison or any other carrier. Give them what they want and they'll like you. Give them what you want and you may find your income gradually deteriorating. Hope this helps. Good luck to you.

    Speed..

Check out H&R, talk to HUTCH in Calgary. They hire new drivers and give them a couple months with a trainer before assinging them their own truck.

I work for them and the only thing I hate is the slip seating. If your on your days off they may or may not take your truck and give it to a part time driver. If you want to keep your truck, then never stop working. Or take your days off on the road. The rest is okay.

I work for them too, but won't be for long, I've seen a drop in the last while. Be prepared to be just plain ignored. Communication is zero. Any minor f-up will be promptly reported most likely by a city/shunt driver/rat before you're even back in your truck. Every pike driver I've talked to has complained about a drop in pay because they're running single all the time.

The paychecks are there though if you are willing to run yourself ragged but whatever you do, don't mess up, or that's it, goodbye job security. Overall, I have worked for worse but I'll never work for this outfit again.

Yuppers I applied there a few months ago. They asked where I like to go and I told them I like the desert states. Then they told me I would drive mostly BC Alberta and Washington and maybe some of Oregon. No choice? No choice!
I told her. Sayonara baby. I hate driving BC.

I gave my 2 weeks notice today. I had enough. No more slip seating for me. An Inmate don't have to move from house to house as much as some of us driver do.

I love running the mountains myself. But ya if your based out of Calgary you will be more regional. You can put in a request to go to other places and they will send you there. Anytime I wanted to go to a certain place, I got to go. If your based out of Winnipeg then they will send you all over the map.

    Nik2015 Thanks this.

Its not that I don't like mountain driving. Hell I drive more mountains than flatlands seeing I live in mountain country. I just hate roads built for small vehicles being used by big rigs. BC highways are still to 1940's standards. All the good roads there are near Vancouver.

I told her that I prefer the desert states and she said 'Too bad'
