I was in Chi-town rolling on the 94. Needed to get over to jump on the 294. Knew it was coming up. Was my 2nd time through the Windy City. I also know the traffic. So, I got over as soon as I could. Which was a no truck lane. The restriction ended about a half mile. I was just trying to be ready.
Got lit up by a Illinois Highway boy. He told me I was in the wrong lane. Apologized, told him that it was my first time in the city. He said he figured that. He did an inspection. Gave me a warning. Rolled on out.
Few months later got a dedicated route running thru Chicago everyday. Never made that mistake again.
Wowowow .... reality check me then!

Mike2633 Thanks this. -
I have got to wonder if the bozo who passed you only to slow down was in cahoots with local law enforcement.

Cruising the middle lane for no apparent reason is where this post went off the rails.
Generic username and adayrider Thank this. -
I usually give them three strikes before I go on the offensive and start squeezing. If they're like any other standard issue moron, if the first attempt to hand off frustration isn't successful they'll either get bored or get mad, unless they see a challenge in your struggle to stay collected, enough to entice them to give it another go. If they really have nothing better to do than try to piss you off and stick around, I'll knock off 5 mph to get right next to them, look them in the eye, keep a steady 12 inches between their window and my steer, see how long they think that kind of stress is fun.
It's only fun for them if they get a reaction, I don't have the energy anymore to waste it on getting mad. I just keep driving in a straight line and imagine how good it would feel to hear the C R U N C H of their momentary lapse of concentration pass under the drives, while remaining firmly between the lines of my lane of traffic. -
I never understood how they can cite you for speeding if youre passing a slower car. Of course you have to speed up if you want to pass somebody!
