    Only thing fiberglass on my truck is the hood and fairings I've got a great ground plane on the back of the cab, and SWR is only about 1.5. KW designed the 680 much better than Freightliner did with the Cascadia

    The only reason I could think of for not running direct actually makes me want to run direct to the battery, would be to avoid forming ground loops. When installing equipment into Fire and Police Vehicles I have always run direct taps off the batteries, then added relays for controlling functions, never had a problem that way. When in doubt install heavier grounds to the block , frame and body.
