Just curious: Has anyone ever had their truck sabotaged? Yesterday I found a straight nail in my sidewall on the drives. It was near the rim, so doubt it was random debris.
I've heard rumors of other drivers pulling tandem pins or 5th wheel releases, but always 3rd or 4th hand. Is this just something I'll have to expect working for Swift?
Thank god I was trained to pretrip every time! I even do a quick walk-around after a bathroom break.

I never had any problems while with Swift (1yr). Usually it is from a disgruntle employee or one who just hates them..

Pay extra caution while in the swift yards, Most other company drivers will leave your truck alone.

Seems to me that that ought to be a Federal Crime, maybe a felony. Anyone know if it is ??
-
purposely trying to cause a blow out on a tractor trailer should be a felony as if the truck were to crash resulting, it could kill many! Good job catching it! This is why the pretrips, post trips and just general random checks are always good

Oh and I might also add.. this probably has nothing to do with swift but probably something that could happen no matter where you are.
THBatMan8 Thanks this. -
I have over the years seen many a tire fail going down the road, and the resulting damage and carnage that happens when this occurs,,,
So i ask you,,Really? If you have seen just ONE tire blow would you actually pound a nail into a sidewall???
You must have undoubtly run over something and you just dont relize it or remember it -
This thread is old but that said I always check my fifth wheel release handle after any amount of time away from the truck.

Only problem I have ever had is I had a spare tire stolen once. I do check that 5th wheel though before I get rolling, might just be CB bs, but don't check it and drop a trailer and its defenatly a preventable.

Well....
I had 2 times where shiny/new threaded screws were in my drives. (At odd angles)
Seemed to me someone was going around with a portable drill
and putting them in... but who knows. Seemed odd.
However, several (3) times I have had my pigtail pulled.
A 'dirty trick' that is a little less harmful
and easy to catch on a walkaround.
If away from the truck, even after fueling and
going in for food, check tires/pigtail/5th wheel!
