Any tips on how to install this
    Z spring wear plates/pads,plz?
I noticed my pads are worn out, thet have less than half thickness of new ones and gets bumpy. I stopped at Volvo today , but they didn't have time to do it, soo i purchased the parts 14$ each and thinking to hammer them in, shouldn't be very difficult but never done this . Should the thicker side be in front ? I can't find any info on internet, any tips plz.

The thick end of the pad is always positioned to the rear.
There is two ways to do it.
    Choke wheels, release brake.
Remove cotter pin from leaf hangar pin and remove hangar pin and roller.
This you have to do for both ways.
1 Place 10 ton jack between spring leaf and fifth wheel sub-frame. Make sure the jack is not going to be projectile. Pump the jack until pad is free to fall down. Never put your fingers between spring and hangar to pull the pad. Use screw driver or pry bar.
    2. Deflate rear air suspension.
Place the jack under rear end of spring under air bag area and lift it until pad is free to fall.
    Same safety warnings.

How long does a set usuallly last? My truck has 455k and loaded heavy almost all the time, 80k gross. I noticed the pins move/spin freely even when truck is fully loaded.

    Pins should spin freely.

Trucker, I've been told years ago to check them and replace before the spring touches the hanger. I used to run Transcanada Hwy on rough compact frozen snow , they wont last a winter, but the cold perhaps makes this plastic more brittle . When this things are worn out are more damaging than bad shocks, ,spring starts banging denting the hangar, i got snapped springs, leaking hub seal, leaning and rough ride .

Here how my pads are looking now, not really bad but not far from done, I'll replace when I get home.

Are they just pushed into hanger or there is some pin or screw?
