Chainin' Up With Dave In AZ

    I guess it makes sense. Just looks weird to me to see bungees on chains. I don't believe my old man ever broke a chain in over a decade of bush hauling. He did do chain maintenance every weekend though. Trimming excess chain, replacing questionable cross links etc.

    I do too, but replacing them every year, and sometimes twice a year is kind of a pain, I'm really pushing my boss to buy me a set of those. Not to mention, with their length and height, make sit easier to get an outside tire up and off the ground if you needed just an outside tire removed for repair.

    I hear ya.
    I have a RGN so I always have timbers...lol
    I screw small bolts on the bottom so they don't slide on the ice and kick out.
    But the plastic ones would last longer no doubt.

    I’ve done the math on this (elevating 34,000 pounds onto a very small surface area) and concluded it could be dangerous on less than good tires and risk popping a tire at the worst possible time while the driver was in there chaining.
