I agree and that is one of the reasons I pointed it out to the OP.

The difference between a dream job and a hell hole may often be the terminal in question. However with a lot of these companies, even the the best terminals are going to have a lot of frustrations, you are going to have to learn to deal with them or find a different line of work.

Good thing with companies like McLane is that they pay us stupid money for dealing with the stupidity.

I was at Mclane when it was PFS then Ameriserve. Good money but hard work. One the problems with component pay is when things don't go smoothly, you're making less money. if you're getting paid to handle a piece ONCE and you have to dig for it after your load shifts or if it was sequenced wrong, then you make less. If you do a key delivery and you set their alarm off, then you're wasting time explaining to someone what happened. I always hated stores with tiny freezers, so after you handle the product ONCE and wheel it into their closed restaurant, then you got to handle it AGAIN putting it into their tiny freezer...
After the key drops are done and someone is supposed to open at 8 o'clock and shows up late ("sorry dude")… Just stupid little aggravating stuff that might compound by the end of the day...
Then, by the end of the day, and you were behind schedule and out of hours... You (might) deliver the last stop of the day and (maybe) have fix your logbook while in the motel so everything looked right...

Not so much right now, but most of last year we were really shorthanded and had drivers from many different DCs in helping out. Comments ranged from ‘horribly ####ty’ to ‘this is great’ when it came to our warehouse operations.

Have you thought about LTL? I worked for Sysco for almost 7yrs and thought it was the best job ever cause I made a lot of money at a young age then I payed the price with 2 shoulder surgery. The loads are all messed always having to dig for products, for example if you need a case of a fresh pallet for your first stop I can guarantee you it’ll be on the bottom so you would have to break down the whole pallet down just to get that one case. Been doing LTL line and I make more money and home everyday (depends on your location). hardest part of my job is moving dollies and trying to stay awake.
