There are an awful lot of places around a truck a motorcycle can hide where the rider has a clear view of the truck's mirrors. Look for the driver's face in the mirror. If you can see him, he should see you. If you CAN'T see the driver, he may not see you.
And forget about your loud pipes. Summer time with my windows open, you're next to my drive tires before your straight pipes are audible...and you had to pass 48' of trailer to get there. You should put your effort into being SEEN.

What scares the crap out of me is the lone biker that is running 100 MPH and zips by before I even know he was there. If I was switching lanes at the time, I would have never seen him until it is too late.

Same here happened a year ago, I really freak it out when stunt black bike went bit over 100mph and zap it like lightning at right side when I was hauling oversize mobile home and the road really so small. it could have been worse fatal crash for stunt bike if I have to steer slight it to right on shoulder of road to let other opposite road vehicle pass it safety. I don't respect anyone bike who dare pass at right side but I do respect it if bike pass it at left side if is safe to do.

2 lane road, 2 bikes coming towards me.
1 guy is so close to center line his foot is in my lane.
I have inches , not feet, of space to move over.
GIVE ME ROOM !
I've been riding for over 50 yrs. I know what it's like out there.alds Thanks this. -
Maryland is actually trying to legalize this stupidity, AND the one pushing for it claims to be a rider herself.G13Tomcat Thanks this.

I’ll second this as well.
DON’T hang out next to a truck 1 second longer than you have to. Here’s why.
This guy blew his right steer and was killed.
These two both blew their left steers and survived, but a motorcyclist next to them on their left side wouldn’t have.

I go out of my way to avoid motorcycles and when I'm on a motorcycle I do the same for trucks. There are also 2 things I will never pull out in front of(from a side street, any intersection or parking lot)that's motorcycles and trucks, I wish everyone felt that way. Riding in a group is something I always try to avoid, I've seen what happens when someone go's down. If I'm in a big truck and a group comes along, I pull to the right and let them go by, much like a cop or an ambulance, and loud pipes save lives wether on a bike or in a truck.

And someone like me... I aint concerned too much about what's back there unless there is something loud enough to matter. Not only you have to overcome the noise in my rig you also deal with the Db resistance imposed on the hearing aids. Those tractors interiors are getting pretty plush and luxury. Takes a train horn at the right note to penetrate.
However get the pass over with quick. Never mind those pipes, at least have your lamp burning. -
