While I certainly don’t know anything about how things are done over there. And I realize countries are smaller and you can cross multiple countries in a day. I can see why they would want out of the EU. I also see the logistical issues that it will cause you guys, but I would have voted for brexit. Again I have very limited knowledge on it.
Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

I really don't want to go to much into politics, but as much as I'm aware that Uk has problems now, brexit isn't a solution to them all. Each country has problems, they can differ, it's not possible to choose one country in Europe where living is easy, trouble free.
I remember when whole vote happend in 2016, people voted for brexit - fine. But then they had those street interviews when they asked people what Brexit actually is - barely anybody could explain...daf105paccar and Humblepie Thank this. -
It works like any of the 50 States decided to be independent from the USA from one day to another and then you can't haul or pass through that state without making inmigration and all the related stuff. I really don't see how this situation can be benefical for anyone.
But aside from that, the UK have the tendency to go out from the EU since ever, as they aren't part of the Schengen territory and also use a different currency, so I understand why it was so easy for the promoters of Brexit get their idea done.
In other hand, returning to the topic of the thread, I want to say that having driven both Kenworth (The one in my profile, Mexican built) and Daf (A Brasilian built Euro V CF) I can say that for the same power (The Kenworth have an EPA 98 ISX 400 ST2 and the CF have a MX13 410 Euro 5 SCR) the CF feels much better pulling through grades than the T800. Also, we had less downtime with the Dafs than with the T800, mainly because of the low quality Cummins engine.Last edited: Mar 4, 2019
Caesar and daf105paccar Thank this. -
Let's see what it means for the UK:
- If a hard Brexit occurs on the 29th of march, the UK will not have any trade deal with any country in the world. All international trading will be done on World Trade Organization conditions.
- Already hundreds of companies are leaving the UK.
- Nissan was planning to build a new car plant in the UK, it will be build in Japan.
- Honda is closing its car plant in the UK, thousands of jobs lost.
- The UK economy is expected to drop by 8%
- EU citizens can get medical assistance anywhere in the EU, if they fall ill when in another EU country. UK citizens will loose that right.
- EU citizens can call for help from EU embassies and consulates, not just from the embassy or consulate from their own country. UK citizens will loose that right.
- 40% of the UK food comes from the European continent, including lots of fresh food. Custom procedures will delay fresh food deliveries by many hours.
- UK citizens are already stockpiling medication, it is not certain they can get the medication they need after Brexit.
- Billions and Billions of all kind of currency have already been shipped out of the UK to EU countries like France, Germany and the Netherlands.
- UK banks and other banks with a seat in the UK, can make deals all over the EU, because of the 'financial passport' they have for trading in the EU. All those banks will have to open branches in the EU, or even move to the EU. This financial sector is one of the most important sectors in the UK.
The most prominent no-deal Brexit honourable member of parliament is Jacob Rees-Mogg, nicknamed "the honourable member for the 17th century". He is also a multi-millionaire. He said that it will take the UK 50 years to recover from Brexit.daf105paccar and nevesu Thank this. -
Caesar is right this time actually, the biggest looser will be UK, and this point it doesn't matter if they stay, leave, they lost anyway.
daf105paccar Thanks this. -
Indeed, the Brexit politicians themselves had and have no idea. Boris Johnson and his friends promised the people the most beautiful trade deals between the UK and the EU, the EU would come begging for trade deals. It would have meant that the UK would be in a customs union with the EU. That means that the UK has to follow all trading rules of the EU, without being able to influence those rules. So enjoying the use of all the EU trade deals, without having to contribute to the EU budget. His colleague Jacob Rees-Mogg and his friends however, do not want that. They want to make their own trade deals. So the Brexit politicians even don't know what they want.Last edited: Mar 4, 2019
