That's great instruction there - totally useless . You're really going to have time to stop when a deer runs out in front of you . In most cases you don't even have time to think . You should have preconditioned yourself not to swerve . That's especially critical in a loaded tanker . It doesn't take much to roll one . People in 4 wheelers have been killed when they lost control swerving to miss a deer . There aren't any options . Hit it .
I bet that school called the TV station to come out there and give them free air time .

I've been told you would know Bronc,:biggrin_25525:If you swerve to miss a deer, the deer will run off unscathed.
    You might not.

I dont swerve for any of the following....

cars, trucks, kids, dogs, cats, woodchucks, deer, elk, rabbits, bear, pigs, cows, little old ladys, bicyclists, moped riders, etc etc etc.

If you are in my lane, and are not suppose to be there, you are getting hit. I will apply brakes, and maybe move to the shoulder to try to avoid, but I will not make rash decisions with my rig.

of course i would know.....i seem to find one in my lane every 6 months or so, and then proceed to scatter thier remains for a few hundered feet

im lookin at gettin an ali-arc bumper, these regular ones tend to bend and break..........

I will not swerve for a ####### deer. In fact, I will aim for it and hope enough would remain for some steaks. I have once changed lanes for some cattle due to the fact there were oh like 10 of them and I had plenty of time, room, and distance to make the change. Wasnt really a swerve but that woulda hurt to hit.

I smacked one 4 weeks ago and tore my patrol car up pretty good. Whatever you do, do not swerve as others have stated. You would be surprised how many I have seen in the last 13 years that have been killed when they swerve for anything. Quickest way to lose control and for some reason, they always hit a pole or tree. In the "B" pillar area (doors) and have intrusions into the vehicle. Hell in your rigs you might do a little damage, but easier to fix something minor and still be drivable. Roll it over and lose the load, tear the truck up and have a hefty tow bill.
