No way former Gov. LePage instructed DOT to not put down sand. He was the best Governor this state has had in decades. It was nice having an adult in charge of the state's finances for a change.

My thoughts exactly. That driver turned on his turn signal in order to make a snap lane change to tailgate the four wheeler in the hammer lane. That's two bad decisions at the same moment. I wonder if he ever eased off the throttle?

I agree it's possible to drive safely in those conditions, you just can't be aggressive like that. I drove through DFW this morning in an ice storm. Dozens of wrecks on I-35W. The key is leaving PLENTY of space ahead and look WAY down the road AND anticipate congestion and leave more room than ever for folks to merge.

Edited to add: another KEY concept is to coast over bridges and around curves. You don't want loss of traction, a coasting tire will roll instead of spinning out.
