You're right. I probably got away with doing it for so many years on every highway in Cali because I was the only one.

You were in the wrong lane. You got busted for it. End of story.
Pay the fine or fight it but there's not much point in arguing on here with people who have given you good advice.

    Rubicon Thanks this.

Haha, just now seeing this but that is too funny. The cop told me after he wrote it “you can fight, if you want”. And I know at the Castaic truck stops they have those “CDL Defender” booths, where drivers ask about this probably 18,000 times a day.

Well, I can say here now just for people who may at some point get busted for being in the wrong lane that I'm still fighting it with a lawyer. So far he's simply postponed it twice. In this part of the state all of the many counties of sheriffs depts and CHP are very, very lenient with us. I don't know the reason why they have this obviously very gracious attitude toward truckers here, maybe they hunt drunk 4 wheelers or speeders there to try and nail bigger or more problematic people; but I got too relaxed and too stupid. Several people called the Marin cops that day which is the only reason I got pulled over. Now I'll say something useful. I know 2 guys who have gotten all of their tickets reduced or dropped with a lawyer. They were tickets for being in wrong lane and going 67 mph. The only ticket that stuck with MVR points was felony hit and run downtown San Francisco. He's like me he gets too relaxed. I asked lawyers how they have that kind of success rate. They said it's because there is no eligibility for traffic school for us and that it is our livelihood. So, they get it dropped to a lesser charge to keep it off MVR. They appeal to that graciousness and understanding I mentioned above. There also must come a time when an idiot's luck runs out and the law gets enforced all the way. We'll see.
