The company I work for is using paperless logs. We run local so of course its a whole lot easier to get away from paper. I can not imagine that running long haul with an electronic log will be easy but I suspect that the industry will be forced to go that way. I have to agree with those who say that the planning will need to get better for this to succeed.
Maybe this is what we need. Better planning and better pay.
Does anyone have anything good to say

Sounds like a winning formula.
-
True. Even so, I can still log two hours from Des Moines to Omaha instead of the actual five hours it took because of ice, snow, etc. Unless they are going to look up the weather for every single day they audit in the company, as well as road closures, etc.... That's the kind of "creativity" I am referring to.
-
I feel sorry for you and any other driver who needs to get "creative" in order to make a living. That is one very sad statement to make.
Imagine that, I have to lie in order to pay my bills. Makes me ill. -
We don't lie to pay our bills. I have no bills, aside from utilities. I can pay those, watching you work.
We lie to increase our bottom line, and spend the night with our family...instead of sleeping in our trucks or down the road from the terminal.
So what if my 8 hour run turned into 10 hours and I logged it as 8. I rarely work 70 hours, when I log it legal.
Hard list of criminal companies...and drivers.
UPS... none recorded, none governed trucks. Marked OOS for inspection purposes. Put in service on a hot load. Usually around Christmas Holidays.
Werner...tamper proof electronic logs, frequently altered.
Conway... Known to ship hazmat loads without placards.
Covenant... refer to Conway comments.
Schneider.... decreased speeds by 10%, yet refused to reflect time differential in dedicated accounts. Forcing drivers to meet already strict delivery windows, through other means...speeding in construction zones, school zones, any zone slower than they could run.
Should I go on ??? I've got a lot more. -
And statements like this make me barf, You 100% legal and make enough to pay your bills and do everything you want ok.
-
Ah kids .... it's a coloring book also known as a comic book. Now do you really think when you walk into a scale they think we're perfect....give me a break. I've got a partner that actually does color in hers with crayons....NE asked her why she did that, she looked at them and said Misery likes the pictures. There was laughter and she came back out. I don't think they really paid attention to the lines or the hours.

But paperless logs....cutting your own throat, if I need to adjust my log I can no one is going to tell me when I run or how far I run. Oh wait.....I'm an O/O....nevermind.... -
I would not suggest for a second that any electronic log is worth a darn if you are hauling long haul. They are great for those of us that are home every day but it is unrealistic to expect anyone to make the darn things work on "the road".
I just hope that the government doesn't force them on everyone, although I suspect that will happen in time. -
I'm looking forward to that day..... with great expectations.
Do you happen to know anyone that is willing to drive a truck OTR for $350 a week, for the rest of their life?
There won't be anywhere near enough drivers to cover the freight. And we'll go to THE highest bidder.
I see .50 a mile plus to start, in the company drivers future. -
It is a dang coloring book for adults. Let's show the teacher on how well you did inside the lines( DOT )
