Good advice but in low range I'd recommend even lower shift point like 1,000 rpm. As he is learning to take the test, he won't be able to shift without using the clutch.
Struggling in double clutch in lower gears.

I have a dedec4, He isnt under a load and were are trying to teach him to shift. Low rpm is hard on any engine. Difference is not smashing it to the floor. About 1500 your torque drops fast. If your gonna hurt a trans it will be low rpm and harsh acceleration.SAR Thanks this. -
OP, you should be shifting at a much lower rpm in the low range. If you shift at 1,000 rpm, you have to shift fast. Stab the clutch, and honestly, the tester won't know if you are only pushing the clutch in the free play or not. Quick is the name of game.

Btw my Dedec4 aint stock try not to let it see less than 1400rpm at anytime. It will turn 2350rpm all day, all night. Torque is down low, not up high. Most guys are wrong with the thought of lugging a engine.

The guy is trying to learn, that is the point. Higher the rpm, the more time he has to shift will let the guy learn. Your idea of the quick shift clutch tap is pointless and crap advise if your trying to teach someone the right way.

But what does that accomplish other than passing a test? You match road speed to rpm. You should be able to shift any rpm anytime. I get your idea of short shifting. I do it empty some. But thats progressive shifting and should be taught after he learns to shift. Your advise will get him in trouble on a ant hill. We all started someplace. Learn how to do it right. Then you can shift however you want. Aslong as I don't own it.SAR Thanks this. -
The short shift low rpm, progressive shift is a mega fleet bull crap lesson taught to save fuel in trucks they have no plan to own its whole life.
