I haven't done much with my CDLA since I got it back in March of 2017, mostly driving a school bus. I want to get out of this state though maybe move to Pennsylvania with my Fiance since there isn't a whole lot of options around the Champaign/Urbana area of Illinois, not for either of us. I was wondering if anyone had some ideas, advice or suggestions?
I almost got into a wreck because the students of my buss were causing too many simultaneous distractions so I decided it was in my better interest to leave. They had been misbehaving for months and all I could do was let my boss know and write them up... I've been unemployed for 5 months now trying to find work at everything from McDonalds to Garbage truck driver with no luck.
I can't drive stick-shift to save my life and the degenerative arthritis makes the knee swell up using the clutch anyways. I'm not the most physically fit person despite my efforts, I can still throw mulberry logs around but get winded after an hour. With those in mind I was looking at no touch, dry-van or reefer with weekly home time. I think I would like the dedicated Kroger, Meijer, Walmart, Home Depot etc... accounts but I barely know what I'm doing and not using that CDLA for a while probably doesn't help. Only problem is I can't seem to find anything in my area and I don't know what I should be looking for or what I should do.

I think the weekly home time would be a problem. If you can't find anything around where you live I don't see any company that's going to go out of their way to hire a driver that's not in the best of health and can't drive manual with probably very limited experience backing up a tractor trailer or even maneuvering one in traffic.
I'm sure my suggestions not the best. But if you can work on not having to be home every week you might try Schneider.
I'm sure there will be other guys with better suggestions later on this is just mine.
Anyways best of luck.
I don't really know anything about Schneider other than they hire a lot of new people.Selmarten4, Suspect Zero and Mooseontheloose Thank this. -
Maybe look into Nussbaum they are just north of Bloomington off 39.
slim shady Thanks this. -
Might consider Maverick Temperature control division. It is not weekly home time but I am sure they would consider you despite the long time since you got your Cdl. I was hired by them a few years back despite it having been 2 1/2 years since getting my Cdl and no experience. I am pretty sure you are in a good area for them and would not need to move. Best wished to you!
