I would go with Omnitracs. It’s been in the business much longer than KeepTrucking. You will likely spend more money through Omnitracs, but it will be worth it in the long run. Omnitracs has so many features it can be overwhelming. You get used to it though. I spent about $865 on the IVG, and pay about $31 a month.

...and I'd go the other way, because Omnitracs was one of the elog companies lobbying for the mandate. I refuse to reward their use of government to expand their customer base.mathematrucker and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this.

You basically can’t move it at all. It’s very sensitive on that. If you had to move for some sort of safety related concern then you would move the truck with personal conveyance and make a note in the logs.
It’s a good system but yes follows the rules to a T. I like it because with being wired directly to the truck then there is no connection issues. The first system I tried would have connection issues with the Bluetooth connection and then the whole system would go haywire. Also this IVG is fairly rugged and durable design. Much less likely to break then a tablet.roshea, Dieselboss and PE_T Thank this. -
all true ELD systems will be pretty much the same since they are at the mercy of FMCSA regulations so after December(AOBRD being phased out) it will boil down to personal preference and good software, we use Keeptruckin on our fleet and the only really annoying thing is when the driver takes off before pairing to the ELD and then having to assign that time and cant do that till after the driver starts his next log(per FMCSA regulation), hopefully at some point FMCSA will allow a quicker turn around time on that....

Same reason all logbooks look pretty much the same. It's regulated by a governing body and has to have particular content.
