I hope you find your ideal job. It took me a few changes to find exactly what I wanted. As I am sure you know most employers are different on the outside looking in than they are once you get in. It will be difficult for you to find any “for profit” company that doesn’t make profitability one of their most important priorities. Trucking is a business and nobody is too big to fail in the global economy we live in. Good luck!

I quit brown 26 yrs ago after one and a half years in.
I sometimes wonder how it would have went for me if I'd have stayed, probably in the top 10% w a decent bid but each day was a struggle.
Not w the rules or work or seniority rights.
I just couldn't fathom the thought of doing the same run for a year at a crack.
I tried freight before this at CF in California when I was younger but knew I wouldn't stick w the junk they pulled.
Stayed union for the most part and am happy w the choices I've made.
I'd most definitely chose UPS if the OP was a young person.
Here's my stub from last week.

I have told several people seeking my opinion that if they are making $100,000 a year and like their job, don’t quit. It was mainly directed at people looking to haul cars, but probably applies to many people. I never minded the equipment at CF but I started there in my early 20’s and no power steering wasn’t a problem. Times have changed a bit since then.

Jealous of that double time and double mileage... I work linehaul for freight and worked for parcel day after thanksgiving and made just short of $900 that day basically shuttling trailers.
