I feel ya. As much as other truckers like to complain about doubles drivers, I think they'd be singing a different tune if they experienced it. There's a lot involved. Crazy schedules, constantly juggling trailers, dealing with relay runs, finding places to swap trailers on relays, blah blah blah. No thanks. It's much harder than I'm willing to work.
-
The job’s done alright by me for the most part.
Although I do have to admit, if I could find a heavy haul job that pays this good I’d probably think about going back to that. -
Elmsford NY coca cola had us waiting from 9 am to 5 pm today. As a trainee do i get detention pay? It was on my clock.
-
No detention as a student Cant really exoect customer pay for 2 peoples detention.
-
I understand that but it's on my clock and we're teaming. So he was in SB.
-
That sucks but think long term. In a couple weeks you will have your own truck and all the perks that come with it. Out of 5 students from my class there are only 2 of us left. 1 just wasn’t cut out for OTT he was a great guy, but was a farmer his whole life probably never spent more than a day away from home in 30 years because of the farm. Another guy 27 years old had crappy low paying jobs his entire life quit after a few weeks in his own truck because he missed his gf. The guy was a natural. I remember the first day of backing he did his 90 perfect and never screwed one up the entire class.
3 rd guy think he had a trainer issue and lost his cool and just quit.
When I hit 15000 miles I told my trainer I was willing to just get paid for my miles and not the trucks miles just to get more training. Lol he thought I was an idiot.
Millis pays their trainees to much in my opinion. They should increase trainer pay and weed out the god awful trainers. Go more for quality than quantity. I am sure that better trained new drivers will decrease preventable accident costs.
First week in truck got several Qualcomm messages that I was doing things wrong. I was doing them the way I was trained. No argument from me though just want to do things right and not cause more work for someone else.
Keen sounds like a great trainer and heck just an all around good person. He accepted a phone call from me because my trainer sort of abandoned me once I got my own truck. Met another Millis trainer a week ago he seemed like a very good guy. We talked for about an hour he explained how he trains his students and the guy had a great attitude put training first above maximum mileage.
Anyway just my 2 cents. -
Doesnt matter Also if you were there from 9 to 5 your clock should've been on sleeper berth also
-
It was. It's ok I just didn't know I don't receive detention pay.
-
So how long do you usually wait before putting yourself on sleeper at a shipper/receiver?
