We're paid on an agreement not to exceed the amount of weight as agreed on the shipment.
If the shipper is trying to profit more off of your transportation services by adding more but not paying more, than that is cheating the trucking company and the driver

1. Broker said weight was 30k. Shipper at loading said it was 48k. I said "hold on, don't load anything yet because this was to by 30k on the agreement made"
I was about to leave the place, as the shipper found a 30k load to place on the truck.
2. Railroad ties shipment that was consolidated from 4 bundles down to 3 bundles. When I arrived at the receiver I showed the BOL and said I did not understand. The receiver explains that the shipper did that to fool the BOL weight. It's all there overloaded at 52k

I’m good with a FTL to 48,000 lbs on my flatbed.
At 49,001 the price stats going up. Most over the road trucks can’t load more than 48k now. So I should get a premium for the extra 2k I can haul over what 80% can’t haul.
If the rate con says 48k or lower I haul what they put on as long as it’s 48k or lower.
If it’s LTL it better be close or less than the weight on the rate con.Opendeckin, singlescrewshaker and PE_T Thank this. -
So if they say 40k and it’s 45k then you should charge more but if you thought it was 40k and it’s 35k then the price is the same because the broker didn’t do his research.....ok, got it. Lol

If everyone punished them in the wallet for laziness of not getting proper dimensions it'd happen far less often..
I should mention I run a light weight operation. I'm tagged at 50k gross, & do quite a bit of ltl, so weight, & proper dimensions means a lot me. It could easily screw up the other partials I have planned..
I deal with brokers once or twice a week at this point. My direct customers are pleased with my service. Being in FL I'm sure they could get their freight moved dirt cheap, yet they happily pay me a living wage. They know what my equipment can handle & have yet to try anything shady..6wheeler Thanks this. -
The weight never bothered me unless it was more then I could gross.I run a step deck not sure of any other type of equipment it would matter to a point where adjusting the rate just because it’s heavier than said would be necessary

First off, I was referring to TL. And if it's LTL why would you not be quoting class/weight/break?

Quote it as a full truck. Simple as that. If it’s not ltl or o/s why are you making life hard on yourself?

Had a truck angry at me for this last week! I sold them the load for 40,000lbs. Ended up getting loaded with 40,575 at the shipper. I really couldn't see how an extra 575lbs was that big of a deal.
I talked to the driver himself and he had absolutely no issues with the extra weight. The owner of the trucking company gave me a time over it.
