And beware of the ads on both the Calgary and Edmonton Craigslist transportation job pages. More than half of them are companies in BC. They are usually the bottom feeders.

 

You can file your taxes without your T4s. It's best to write a letter to the tax man stating that you've tried getting your T4 off the company, both by phone calls and a letter. If you have your pay stubs, then take the info from those and add everything up. Be sure to say what you've done and from what paperwork in that letter to the tax man. If you don't have your pay stubs, then inform the government, and write in your best guess on your tax forms. The government will get tax forms from the company, and they will include payments to you on their own forms because you're a tax write-off to them. Once the government gets their form they will go back to yours and adjust everything. You may have to pay more tax if your best guess was low. But the government will give you money back if you're owed. Also, the government doesn't like when companies don't supply T4s to their workers, so they will go after the company, give them a stern warning, or a fine.
