The only thing I ever saw like that is some companies give a dispatcher funds for incentives. As an example a driver is late and they can't reach him to find out what's going on. They know where the truck is so they want you to go out of route and find out what's up. You aren't paid for that and that's likely going to be one grumpy driver when you wake him. So they offer you $50 or something to do it.
Is there such thing as a bonus for the driver from the shipper or receiver?

Nope never.
I have had drivers get little perks, but no bonus. Most shippers don't give a crap, they want people in and out so they can sit and watch TV.
As an owner I had to deal with produce and food that was rejected for one or another reason. sometimes I get the load to a wholesaler to get rid of it, sometimes the shipper wants it back or it sits in a warehouse. -
There is a place in Connecticut that makes yogurt that I think only Shaffer picks up from so we often get a free case of some

Water places will give you water sometimes. Mostly though, being loaded or unloaded in a timely manner is a bonus.

One shipper turned out to be a battle royal. They asked for help. Now I don't know exactly the background story, but long story short I took care of 3 loads in addition to mine in a day. At the 4th load when they were signing papers they brought out a foam tray with cover and plastic ware, codiments and so on. Gave that to me. And told me to enjoy it because of the work I did that solved several problems that had vexed them.
One of the staffers had taken the trouble to drive into downtown to a nice eating place, picked up the food to order to go and that was for me. I have not seen them since. But I will tell everyone that food was really good, being a little italy kind of cooking to the point of skipping breakfast the following morning.
Another called MM Mars in Jersey and in Texas (Waco and I think park something or other) used to hand out a bag or box of goodies. We suspected one of their dumpsters might have it otherwise, but we always enjoyed the products. Nothing wrong with it.
One in Jessup Md loading Salsa for Mexico via Phoenix Gave us a box of Salsa and a box of fresh bread from just down the street bakery at Landover. (A major 24/7 bakery)
To this day I have not been able to locate that salsa in the USA. I probably will have to order it from Mexico by Fed ex or something.
Those experiences were happy times. I say 99.80% of all shippers or customers will profanity and roar, #### IT YOU FINALLY HERE YOU LAZY SACK OF BONES~! And good morning to you too Mr Grinch. SHEESH. Life is too short to be losing it with every truck that arrives all the live long day.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Have a customer that gives all the drivers cash bonus each year. Plus whatever they want (within reason) of the product all year long. Also provides a vehicle for the drivers to use.

I once got about 15 boxes of some type of high end cookie thing people usually dip in coffee. Wasn’t very good and I believe I still have most of it stashed in the cupboard somewhere.

Expired, just to rub it in? Lol
I’ve gotten tips before. Construction deliveries/ handed cash by owner or foreman/receiver.
Gotten tips from a shipper too. I send in my rates for whatever loads I did so I can get PO’s, guy in the office marks them up 25% n sends me the paperwork I need for processing.Last edited: Mar 15, 2019
