Hello Truckers
My family and I will be relocating to Michigan this summer, and I will be seeking CDL employment in the Ann Arbor/Detroit area.
I will be needing transfer my CDL, and am wondering if anyone has any experience with MI transfers. The website says I would only need to retest if I was transferring my hazmat, which I'm not.
Thanks,
GratefulTrucker

I don't know either, just wanting to make an opinion. I really wish the CDL was a true federal license!

My understanding is only Illinois and California require taking all the cdl tests again. I have heard that all the others will give you a cdl when you surrender your old one.

I went from Illinois to Wisconsin license. It was pretty easy and didnt need to take a test. I did do a new medical card. It was about that time anyways.

One thing to be mindful of when transfering.
Michigan has an extra money grab called a chauffeur's license. Doesn't matter if one is delivering pizza or driving a semi. As long as one makes money with their license they need the chauffeur's added. -

Arkansas had me sorted in 10 minutes with a new photo.
Come to think on it they don't invest in photos too often. I'll need grey paint to spray on that old license to update it to match my hair.Tombstone69 Thanks this.
