This retired federal DOT official wonders how that is legally and realistically possible? 4500 miles divided by 65 MPH is 69.23 plus hours. And I have serious trouble believing you unloaded a tanker in 15 minutes. Did you eat? how many logs were you using; 3? Do you know how easy it is to prove falsification to wit: where did you fuel and log on line 4 & where did your log say you fueled and at what time?
In order to average 65 MPH over 4500 miles you would have to be actually averaging somewhere around 75 to 80 MPH over the entire 4500 miles. And I have a serious problem believing your truck will go from 0 MPH to 75 MPH at the snap of your fingers so that means you must also add approximately 6 more MPH on to your speed average because it takes quite a distance to get up to full speed which reduces your MPH average.
How many 4-wheelers called the cops on you and do you even have any idea? How many truckers called you something negative over the radio going that fast?
And apparently you didn't eat in those 4500 miles either because that must be counted/logged as on-duty, not driving (line 4) on your log pursuant to the part 395 rules. Because 4500 divided by 65 is 69 hours plus I'll bet you lost about 20 pounds on that trip.
I can't help but wonder which you are; a liar or a fool. If the latter it makes me wish I hadn't retired and I was the one that caught you, then went to your carrier for the C.R. (Compliance Review......what you call the internal audit). Oh what fun that would be!!!!!!!
If your problem is the former I remember an old addage: Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we try to deceive".

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
How is the economy treating you as a driver?

Yeah , he ran that way with the carrier's blessing . All it would take is even a minor accident and one look at those logs and they'd be running as legal as Crete is now .psanderson Thanks this.
-
You got that right. But this appears to be another prime example of a driver that has no knowledge of what the Monfort lane is.
-
whats the monfort lane?
-
The one to the left of the J.B. Hunt lane .psanderson and Tran Man Thank this.

Why is it we are logging on duty to eat?

I lost my job in Jan. in the past I would have in another trk within a week. I have a clean MVR, 17+ yrs exp, no crimminal record, no accidents and after filling out tons of applications maybe I find a job next week.

Two companies I really don't want to work for and one near where I live. But I will lose 10-12 yrs in pay. Before everything went down the toilet I was offered between .36 - .42 per mile.
Now They are offering .26 - .32 per mile.
Not to be w wet blanket but this recession is going to be bad! The politicions are trying to spend their way out of it. That's a bad idea!
If you want more detailed info on why this has happened See ZEITGEIST II ADDENDUM on Google videos. Also check out Glen Beck's site as well.
Hang in there! Save as much money as you can! Don't buy anything you don't absolutely have to have!
Tell your wives to stock up on dry and canned foods. Every time you go to the store buy extra non-perishable foods.
Even if you have to do without other things, do it!
Your Family has to eat!
Buy you kids shoes a size too big. They will grow into them. Get you kids Hand me down clothes to play in. Or buy used clothes at a flea market. It's stupid to bu them new clothes that they will grow out of in a few months.
Change all your light bulbs to lower watt bulbs. get rid of cable TV. The kids can go outside and play.
What a novel idea!!!
You have to start packing food in your truck. Drink water or Koolaid. don't buy sodas. Subway has a 12' sub for 5 dollars. That's two meals!
Make your own coffee in the truck unless you have some free points at pilot for coffee.
We all have to start thinking in terms of , How do we make it through this. Some economists are saying that this crisis will get a lot worse. This is what happens when we ship all our good paying manufacturing jobs to China and Mexico!!
anyway good luck to you all

Yes it was foolish to drive 4500 miles in 69 hours. If indeed that's what he did. I don't really doubt it because I have driven for companies that will push drivers to do it! They made a promise to a customer to get the load and now it's up to the driver to do it!

You guys in the DOT really kill me...
You guys know what compamies are running their drivers into the ground. Yet, they are still in business!
You guys fine the guy with no power, the driver. Yet, the Bas@%#^&. That own the company laugh all the way to the bank! DOT is complisant in this because they should be fining the owners and putting their butts in jail. But instead they take the food out of a driver's kid's mouth! You guys make me want to vomit!
In these times we cannot afford not to do what we have to to make a living. The DOT may fine us and put us out of service. But the company will do worse. They may make the driver sit for a few days as payback or cut his miles to run him off.
He didn't log it legally!
He bought another log book!
He did what he had to to support his family.

you have many valid points in this post..... the reason the economy is in the toilet right now, is because we are exiting the manufacturing age... like when we went through the "depression" of the 1930's. at that time we were leaving the agricultural age and entering the manufacturing age.... this time however, we are entering the information age.... if you like to read books (and even if you dont i suggest you read them) pick up a book called "the next millionares" by paul zane pilzer. it is an easy read and has many informed facts from a world renouned economist..... it is actually a good thing that we are in this economical downturn, we are preparing ourselves for huge economic growth in the very near future.... i would like very much to get in touch with you, if you would, and since i do not have pm privileges just yet, please pm me an email address where you can be reached and i will send you an email with more information on surviving this economy... -
hopefully by the 1st of april it will begin to pickup. its only a theory of mine but i think alot of places are ordering just enough to get by, hoping the can post a profit by not having a warehouse full of product. the snowbirds are leaving fla. in droves so maybe my loads will begin to pickup. i run juice out and load back, but at least im getting about 1500 miles per week.
