My 13 isx 450 trouble free so far at 540k
30k drains , very little idle time , fuel pump updated and emissions system serviced every year since new .
In a 13 cascadia with a mix of heavy and light loads ...mpg consistently stays in the low 7s over 15 day periods .
Are isx cummins good engines

I have a 2014 587 Peterbilt with a Cummins ISX. The fuel pump went through this motor when the previous owner had it, as it was still under warranty Cummins re did the whole motor. You can get the serial # off the motor and have any Cummins shop run it and they will tell you if the fuel pump has been changed out on that unit or not... I've only put 40k miles on here since I've had it and no issues so far.

You need an Inline reader and the Insite software to read any codes, could be a number of things. First thing to do is an EGR Tuneup, start replacing sensors and cleaning out the soot. I would also check the SCR can for leaks, they do in time and will give you all sorts of fits. The blueish white smoke is more than likely a cracked DPF filter. White smoke can sometimes indicate a coolant leak, which will destroy the DPF/DOC filter. Have you been using extra coolant lately? Until you get a computer on the ECM, I can go on like this for a few paragraphs.
Also, you do know about the fuel pumps and the plungers and tappets that disintegrate and take out the motor? They need to be rebuilt every 300,000 - 400,000 miles. If you have the older 3 cylinder fuel pump, best to replace it with the newer and not so much improved two cylinder fuel pump. Less moving parts to fail that can boat anchor your motor.
Here is a link to the Inline 5 reader and software you will need to diagnose your motor. You can also use an Inline 6 reader. Data Link Adapter Kit Inline 5 Insite V7.62 Diagnostic Support Multi Languages | eBay -
