VATec might not have been as bad if it weren't (a gun-free zone).
Proof??
Appalachian Law School shooting, Jan 16, 2002; Peter Odighizuwa was disarmed by an ARMED student http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appalachian_School_of_Law_shooting
LEGAL firearms protect an estimated 2 MILLION people each year.
Why carry a gun?
A cop is too heavy.Joetro, Mainspring and droy Thank this. -

I am moving back to MA. in about 6 months and when I receive my concealed weapon permit in MA., I can only carry it concealed in the following states:
Alaska
Arizona
Idaho
Indiana
Kentucky
Michigan
Missouri
Montana
Oklahoma
South Dakota
Tennessee
Texas
Utah
Vermont
I would then have to check with any other state that I plan to travel through to see what they require for proper storage of a handgun for a non-resident in a state.
Of course this is all negated if you company does not allow the carrying of a firearm in their equipement.
My NC permit will still be good for four years after I move back to MA but I can't carry in the states that MA doesn't cover because I will no longer be a resident of NC, even though I have a permit.

Best let sleeping dogs lie,..... for about four years anyway. -
Once again doing something I'm uncomfortable with; referring back to a "firearms involved" tragedy, but it was reported that either 26, or 28 laws were broken in the commission of the Columbine tragedy. I often wonder what law these anti-gun people could have passed, that would have made the two scumbags pause and say "Wait!, we can't go to the school and kill those people, it's against THAT law."Pur48Ted Thanks this. -
You said you researched something but I am not for sure what the subjsect was. I was thinking you meant "This no weapon crap in a truck...", but you could have meant Sunday, school, graduation, or something else.
You mentioned about the right to carry in a truck and then about permits. These two subjects, with a couple of exceptions(states), are seperate from each other.
I suggest that you research some more but I will make it easy for you. Read the posts(extensive) in this section(hint: search posts under my profile name) and you will find laws, sites, reasoning, explanations, arguments, and enough information to see the difference in a states right to carry(CCW) permit and the federal governments recognition of interstate peacable carry.
After you read the posts, follow the links, and become informed, then report back here with the knowledge. By this time you will be informed enough to know who is talking crap and the one of two states that likes to prove it doesn't have to follow the federal governments rules and regulations. Good luck

Okay let me break it down a little easier for you:
When I stated I graduated from school on Sunday, I meant a truck driving training school (would make sense this being a truckers forum)
When I said "this crap about carrying a gun in a truck" I was referring to all the misinformation that is floating around about carrying a CONCEALED weapon in a CMV. A permit is required to carry CONCEALED. eg: in the state of NC you do not need a permit to throw a pistol up on your dash and cruise around town. You also do not need a permit to strap a weapon to your side and carry it. You do need a permit to put the pistol in the glove box or to "conceal" it in your vehicle. You also need a permit to walk around with the weapon "concealed" on your body.
I was not trying to argue the fact that it is in fact NOT ILLEGAL to carry a weapon in a truck.
but thank you for your lawyerly advice mixed with the condenceding tone!

Let's keep it civil in here, please.
I believe, for the most part, most all of us agree on this subject. Infighting is bad juju.droy Thanks this. -
2 people were found beaten near Leesburg VA on Sunday, husband and wife, he had a permit and was not carrying at the time and was also a former CIA contractor. Maybe a hit or who knows.
-
Isn't your car truck or CMV an extension of your home? I have been carrying a firearm in all of my rigs since hector was a pup. 2nd Amendment is all I need to know about guns At some point, citizens must decide the time for and the forms of civil disobedience necessary to safeguard our freedoms before its to late.
sodbuster03 Thanks this.
