stroker's story is a carbon copy of a LOT of trucking trainees (not just my experience or his.) after my ordeal with Trans ###, I found another company with good trainers and stayed with them for almost 3 years. you have to understand that a LOT of truckers are uneducated, low achieving, pisssed off idiots who can't do anything else. and in almost any society, the absolute bottom of the barrel morons who can't find their ### with both hands become teachers of some sort. SO, with a trucking teacher, you're truly getting the WORST of both worlds - an idiot and a moron in one package.
New students beware of Werner!!

It didn't use to be that way. Truckers were highly respected in the past. Although we were considered vagabonds by many. We still had a lot of respect from the general public.
But we are scraping the bottom now. For every 20 drivers that enter the industry, only 1 or 2 come into it with eyes wide open and a desire to succeed. The rest are here for a place to sleep and/or a paycheck. -
While I feel there is some truth here about the trainers in the situation we are only getting half the story. Somewhere in the middle lies the truth.
Some people are just plain nasty and that could be the case here. I would be interested to here the other side.
Good luck in what ever you do. -
After driving school, I signed up with Werner. I spent 2 1/2 months in training with a great trainer. I had to spend a little more time with him than what I was told, but i was paid extra for that time.
I've heard stories from many Werner students about their trainer. I count myself lucky to have had such a great trainer. He took the time to mold me from a student into a driver. I don't know what I wouldve done if I was stuck with one of these guys you hear about.
The truth about Werner and their trainers is that they do not need the the required skills or personality to be a trainer. They take any of their drivers who have been there 6 months or more and give them a quick class. THe majority should not be trainers and only do it for the money.
Coming out of driving school, your choices are limited. You need to just get through the next stage. If things get really bad, there are people you can get a hold of to report your trainer. If they mistreat you, are slobs, or other situations, there are people who want to know.mhintz15 Thanks this. -
That sucks sorry for your experience..."God blesses the child who has his own"

Yea I wonder what happen to the good ol days -
MMMMMMMMMM.... I guess it's some truth what you are saying -
they might not be hiring anymore. Had a april 17 orientation and they just called me and said re-apply in 6 months. Great thanks. Sad deal is 5 others did not call me back. I might have to drive a 7up truck if I am lucky to find one hiring. Just got out of driving school and I have no job.
-
Sounds like there maybe more to the story... I dony see how Werner would stop hiring.

Stroker,
May I ask what company you working for now and are they hiring. I'm in Caly near Bakersfield.
I also got the shaft from You know who?
FYI They get paid by gov 8k per head of cattle hired or not. So they are using students as slaves and once you get so may hours they will not hesitate to fire you for looking at them the wrong way. I hear they are even going back on drivers records and firing them at will.
They don't have the freight to hire any don't go their this is a warning to all newbies
I can tell you my story if you guys want? Your gonna fall out of your chair and have a good laugh though.
