I arrived late to the “party”. What I got was what I needed. The 401k. Walked in at the ending of the ELD commentary. Had lunch and now recovering from what little but I did eat. Doesn’t take much these days to aggravate the ulcers-but it was okay. The smoked chicken was off the hook, though.

Ok, This is my personal opinion about today’s safety meeting.
First let me say this. If you haven’t been to one of these new safety meetings under the direction of Kimberley you’re missing out on a lot great valuable information.
I just cannot write about everything but they did make a video recording.

Abilene had all kids of good pastry’s and coffee for breakfast.
At 9:00 A.M. meeting started and there was a good group of Abilene driver’s present.
Alan Jones the president of Abilene open the meeting speaking about the safety system on all the new trucks; and the coming purchase of new reefer trailers.
You have to love this company! Every year they purchase lots of new trucks and now new reefer’s. Last year they purchase new trailer van’s.
Alan also spoke about a new “Driver councel” represented my some of our drivers; and if you have a problem that needs attention you can speak to any of them about your situation. On this matter you must call Abilene and find out there names and how to reach them. Also Alan Dan is available.

The first speaker presented was Abilene’s lawyer. The person in charge of handling all accidents cases.
The thing’s this gentleman spoke about had me in shock!
One thing he mention repeatedly “Don’t be distracted by your cellphone or your gps” because in one second anything can happen! Then he presented some interesting cases.
He also mentioned to be careful of what you post in the media! Face book, instagram, etc. Because in case of an accident it can backfire on you; and he also set a few very interesting examples.

The second speaker was a representative from “The drive wise Qualcomm program” that wil start probably around September of this year. All I can say is that this new Qualcomm program will notify you of an up coming road scale and make passing such scale more easily. On the other hand this new program version will put you on driving status quickly if you move!
Some drivers presented there concerns and they got there answers.

After this we had an awesome lunch!

We also had speakers on health benefits and 401k.

    My personal conclusion.
You all know that a while back I went into a rant here. I was frustrated and who doesn’t get frustrated? It’s called being human!

But I have also posted that Abilene is the best company I have ever work for!
Since 1994 I work for several companies and I like Abilene! We are growing and great things are coming; it just takes a little patience to get there and sometimes I forget.

I had the chance to speak with some office people and already they have some great projects in action. Like “Chris Nycum” has moved to West Memphis to become the new manager there. This guy is Excellent! The way he works and does dispatch is incredible! His going to be developing the West side.
I had the chance also to speak with “Cam” who is now Vice President of Abilene and he helped me to understand many things.
The last thing he sad to me was “Comunication” Let us know what’s going on and we will help you! Of course that means all of us!

    Ok, everyone.
    The End! :)

I recognize the name but cant say I know much about him... what has he been doing here up to this point?

I’m in West Memphis at the moment... I wonder when he will be heading this way. I know they sure have a lot of unused office space here and the whole upstairs is empty... I hope they do start to develop this location into more than just a yard and shop... it has great potential.
