Just wondering if anyone has experienced this and has any idea to a possible cause and a fix?
Lately, when running in D, my truck will intermittently not lift off from a dead stop in 1st. Almost like its not detecting throttle input. In manual mode, no problems.
I rarely use auto mode and generally only putts around town in it, however, confidence is suspended until I know it won't keep rolling backwards while lifting off in traffic.I've had to use the spike to keep things in place a few times while it tries to make up its mind in hilly urban terrain.
This problem is magnified when not up to operating temperature, but still happens less frequently when its warm.
Model of my I shift is ATO3112D if it makes a difference. I've checked shifter plugs for moisture or green monsters and packed with dielectric grease in the meantime.
Thanks for any input!
I shift intermittently wont lift off in 1st

Slap it.
IF the engine continues to snooze at idle... then there might be a fly by wire binary conflict coming from your throttle pedal's counting chip. Maybe.sirjeff Thanks this. -
I have no solutions.
I only clicked because I read the title quickly and laughed out loud to myself.
I thought it said.

every auto-crap, I mean auto-shift that I have driven, they start off in 2nd. I never put it 'manual mode', i dont give a rat's rear end how many times it searches for the correct gear. The owner of the truck can ##### all they want about that, if they want the truck in the correct gear for the conditions, then have a truck with a manual transmission.

Clutch control module.
Never thought I'd celebrate a $1000 bill!
Had 2 days booked off next week to have them likely pull the tranny to change the harness so today is a good day. Back to work, no downtime.Last edited: May 30, 2019

Lol. First it's not an auto shift you have the wrong transmission.
Second, if you want it to start in only first gear you can set that in the parameters.
You can control the max starting gear for the Manual mode and Auto D mode separately in the parameters.
My 2016 is set to start no higher than 1st in D mode.... And up to only 3rd in manual mode.
Clutch life can be dramatically improved on the Mdrive/iShift by not allowing higher starting gears.
Factory defaults almost guarantee a short clutch life a...you'll be hearing the annoying bleep-bleep of that clutch overheat warning buzzer...lolNewto Trucking Thanks this.
