I used TVC (i think) in the late 90's, I had 4 tickets I think, and they got all of them reduced to fines. I had to go to traffic school once. If you like to speed its good, cause california sucks with its 55 mph!!! (i live here and do most of my work here).

    nofilter Thanks this.

:biggrin_25510:Floriida passed a law in 2005 that you can't go to school if you have a CDL. I was advised by the cop & a clerk at the courthouse that I could take the class, get no points & pay a reduced fine in 2007. So I did then I GOT A LETTER SAYING i HAD DONE AN ILLEGAL ACTION-SCHOOL! They were going to suspend my license & hit me with a large fine. Got a lawyer & kept my license, paid the fine. Don't assume you can have the school option. In Florida you can't, but you can get the points waived. :biggrin_25510:

That was a federal amendment to FMCSA. Driver's can't go to traffic school, even if ticketed in a 4-wheeler, also get 1.5 points instead of one, DUI's went from 7 years to 10 years, etc. All came at the same time. BUT, to get back to TVC, they saved my ### on a ticket I got on the grapevine, 67 mph in a 45 mph zone. That would have been a Reckless Driving (20 mph over speed limit), they got it dropped to Coasting, zero points, $140 fine. I've been sidelined because of real ######## tickets for a little over a year, i.e., parking on the on-ramp shoulder in Indio, CA on I-10 (point and a half), off-route in Anaheim one block from Carl's Jr., my drop (point and a half), falsifying my logbook at the Truckee scales, I mistakenly started my logbook at 4 a.m., when it should have been 4 p.m.. My load was out of San Francisco (point and a half, $535 fine). He knew I wasn't houred out as he didn't take me out of service. I later got TVC and never, NEVER, will I drive without their service. It's a small price to pay for some protection from of these Nazi DOT jerks. I'll finally be able to go back to work in a month or so, but with the comfort of knowing they can't do that crap to me again. And you're right, California has got to be the most anti-driver state in the Union and that's why I'm moving to Arizona. There's nothing there, but included in that nothing is the California Highway Patrol!!!

I Havent driven with a CDL since 2000, thanks for the heads-up on traffic school, I looked it up on the DMV website, and low and behold there it was! I am going back OTR and will get TVC again.

Do yourself a favor and get Pre-Paid Legal. It is better than American Truckers Legal Association and it is better than TVC.

California is the same way. In fact they are stricter than any other state when it comes to truckers. The only states that are even remotely close is Ohio, Michigan and Illinois to the best of my knowledge.

California does not even really count as a state as it is more like a communist country.

California sucks if you are truck driver at all. I have not been there in quite a while as a non driver and would not mind going just as long as I am not driving a truck.

California and Florida are some of the best states to go to when it comes to the chicks as both states have some of the best looking women in the country bar none.

The only problem with them is that they also come with really big attitudes as well and that is why I am studying things like the pick up arts so that I can learn how to more effectively deal with their crap and to just get right down to business (if you know what I mean).

I don't know about the rest of you, but I hate those stupid log books. They are nothing but overgrown etch a sketch pads that they give us and I personally do not think that they even trust us with crayons.

It's pretty sad knowing that while they tend to treat us as children, they still don't trust us enough to be children and that is why they don't give us crayons.

I guess in their opinion we are lucky if we even qualify as toddlers and that is being on the nice side of it all.

Unless you really expect to get tickets prepaid legal isn't a good choice . There are other services you can call after you get a ticket .

There's also other jobs that you can do as well once the DOT takes your license and the company decides to fire you.

You can alway's try McDonald's. I don't know how much they pay but I doubt that it is going to be enough to support you once.

I've tried other services and all of them tend to make promises that they can't deliver on. If you like that kind of treatment then do yourself a favor and get a job with Swift. They will be more than happy to lie to you and to do whatever they can to screw you.

I know because I used to work for them and they suck. I personally really could care less because when it is all over there will be another spot open in the trucking industry for someone who really needs and wants the job.
