Thanks again. I've researched some of the outfits you listed. These are the reasons I'm looking at other companies first -
Mountain Valley: Requires haz mat handling, load and unload, make repairs to truck as directed by mechanic, make own brake adjustments, 90% team drivers.
Cemak, Cargomatic, Robertsons - not keen on hauling cement, rock, gravel, etc.
National Carriers - owned by Schneider and only offer, at the most, 2 weeks with a trainer. I really want 4 wks at least.
McLane - I'm interested, but no openings in my area and their recruiters don't return calls. It's really hard to find out anything about them when a live person is not available; but I'm interested.
I'm also looking into Covenant Transport, but it seems they run mostly teams.

I know I'm limiting myself by wanting Regional, but I think that's the best match with my personality.

I really appreciate your imput - invaluable actually.

 

Danny Herman Trucking freight lanes are below I-40 for the most part.
Drivers I've talked to say they mostly run I-8/I-10/I-40.
Two facilities in Southern California; Calexico and Fontana.
This company hires new cdl school grads. and has fancy trucks.

Our Drivers, representing the large Fastenal Fleet of trucks with 200+ semis, 150+ sprinters, and 100+ straight trucks, are able to move product faster and more cost-effectively than the competition. Primarily working overnight shifts, deliveries from our distribution centers are made during overnight hours in order to deliver freight to our company-owned branches before they open. Occasionally, Fastenal also employs Over the Road Drivers, Team Drivers, Relief Drivers, and Freight Terminal Drivers.

Even though I'm not employed yet, I live near Anaheim, CA (So Cal) and have found that most of the jobs being offered close to home are in Fontana, CA (or very close to Fontana), or out of Los Angeles, CA. If you don't mind waiting at the docks all day, there are plenty of jobs out of Long Beach, CA.

Further North seems to be Modesto, Fresno area. I can't speak to anything North of there.
