I just entered this world of trucking in September and it seem it was flipped upside down in the middle of October. It costs me 1.12-$1.15 per mile to operate and I won’t take anything for less than $2.00 which has been lowered from my $2.25 minimum when we started out but it’s been so hard to keep tolls and insurance and minor maintenance done. So I will keep my standards and just hope everyone else can too

No, it's the guys wearing Adidas sweatsuits team diving in an old white Volvo for 0.80 cents per mile that are driving rates down.

You know, I’m not going to put everyone in the same bag, but I was talking to one Eastern European about 3 weeks ago. He is an owner operator and he showed me his rate confirmation for $ 1500 for about 900 miles and 2 deliveries (reefer load -10) .
I told him that even with the rates as it is now , my friends or I would not take that specific load to that delivery area for not less than 2100 the least , so I showed him the load board and the rates for the same loads were 1800. So he became very upset and started talking ( Yelling in his language ) on the phone to his dispatch , I assumed . Anyway, to make this long conversation short , he told me that he is registered with a Russian brokerage ( in Russia or from Russia ) they sell loads to him and also they charged him 4% .
I did my best to help him to the best of my knowledge with load boards and how to negóciate .
The lesson here is that , if we are or continue to be uneducated or ignorant about other horizons , opportunities, possibilities..... we will get screwed. There are people out there that will screw you with out lube , believe me! And , to be honest with you guys, I don’t blame them
. When you end up broke , resented , upset ungry to whole world for your failures, I hope you blame yourself, seriously.
So , let’s help each other and be open minded .
