it says they easily adapt to any conditions and are smart loyal and protective dogs and hey be kinda cool to go past the border patrol when they have a gsh and I have one lol. I think it would be cool to have one in a truck they need daily exercise so that would give me a reason to get out of truck and run around. I think it’s cool that that dog would have my back. Any drivers have one.? In their trucks? I always thought keeping a dog in truck would be a bit cruel but hey if they can adapt and see the country I’m sure it would be okay??

I've seen guys with Huskies in their trucks and pitbulls. If the dog travels well, why not?

That would be one dog I would not have a problem with. I was raised with one. (One could argue by one due to inattentive parents...) and there have been times Ive dealt with a GS. One time I come home to my apartment covered in fuel. It was a bad workday and here i here snarling full attack rapid barking on the other side of the door. (Oh *&^) then a moment later WTF, this is my place what etc Stuck my hand in there. Mind you its two am and full dark.

One sniff and I got licked to death fuel and all. I realized that dog was part of "My pack" as a associate of the family who had his younger sister in crisis one night and sleeping in my place on a air matress. (Not the best accomodation when there was a full twin availible... when I am not around) It is mind bending how fast that GS went from attack mode to yips and all tail like within two heartbeats. Sorry boss I cannot drive today I have broken bones from that tail. (That did not come out right in english, but you follow me.. //snarky)

You sure you want that tail sweeping your cab? Ha...

Anyway. I picked up another GS lost in a storm at my work place, it had collar and tags etc. Feed it some alpo out of can, it was hungry alright, settled in my feet while I operated the cash register. (Manager had a brick when he saw the security I had that night all ears on every one coming and going. It even growled once when a customer was trying to be hostile and stupid over money.)

A mind it does have. And sometimes more than that. It developed a habit of sticking nose in my knee when it required something. Usually out for pee pee. It was such a scardy cat in that big storm. (For the area. I hate to think what will happen when were in western Kansas with 40 miles worth of forked lightning lighting up all of heaven. It will probably tear up the bunk to get into the very last middle of it showing nothing but nose and one ear. Not to mention the fur. Ever try to clean out dog hair?

You would want to be careful where you park. People walking to and from the food all night long might get yapped out. You wont get any sleep. Then be hoarse in the AM from screaming QUIET #### it! (LOL)

A guy where I work has a full size Saint Bernard in a Mack Pinnacle, so a German Shepherd should do fine. Hopefully you get one that likes tennis balls, which makes exercising them easy as long as you can find a safe place for them to run without getting run over by an idiot racing thru the parking lot trying to get to the closest fuel pump so he can get his roller dog in his flip-flops. There use to be a youtube trucker calling himself "The Renegade Trucker" who was a heavy haul/over dimensional hauler and he had a German Shepherd with him all the time.

I think a West German Shepherd is better than the EGS.

I think that the WGS and EGS re-unified, so there isn't any difference anymore.

Trucks are not a healthy environment for a big dog, or any animal for that matter, and I would say especially for a German Shepard as they are more prone to hip displacement than other breeds.
It's very painful for the dog should it happen and the humane thing to do in that case is put the animal to sleep.

Having owned a couple over the years, I can say from first hand experience that the hair inside of your truck would probably drive you completely insane. They tend to shed an incredible amount of hair, and in such a small space you would be eating it constantly.

How about a Belgian Malawians? A local town here just picked up one. Essentially all paws right now just coming out of puppy. But hes a full on biter so... Just remember to yell "Herean RAUS!!! RAUS!!!" lolz.

NOT: "Kommen Sie Hier..." you are fixing to get a woof and then become a nice wriggly fun chew toy.
