Ok now that makes good sense. the gap is currently 1/2, so internally it’s adjusted, when I get to do the paper test and if it doesn’t hold, then I have a linkage issue or possibly cylinder/hydraulic related? Almost seems like that would better to find out if it doesn’t hold the paper. Then it might not be a clutch job just yet?

I did lubricate the master cylinder a little on the inside where it attaches to the pedal. And it helped a little maybe but now when I push the pedal down it’s doing some major croakin’

How much was your gap before you adjusted? Going a smidge tight on the 1/2" wont hurt a thing. The gap will always increase as the clutch wears, ya know?

Did the adjustment help your gear engagement issue or is it exactly the same? Let us know what you find in there.

Before I adjusted last idk, I let somebody else do it and he did it by eye with no measurement. It threw it off worse then lol. So I bought the tool and learned how to do it. That was in February& it helped a whole lot, I set it at 1/2in where the tool could go in and have a slight drag on the way out. No grinding, just easy in and out after that. And for sure I plan updating. Thanks

The thing that kinda stinks with hydraulic linkage is that driver can't tell clutch needs adjustment because loss of free pedal. Pretty sure everything with hydraulic clutch is now standard with the solo clutch. For it to adjust, you have to use the clutch some.

From the cab the dead giveaway that the free play is gone is when the brake is gone. On 579/567's with the air assisted you can feel the pedal bottom out on the firewall/ pedal stop with a thud. Also the engagement point will be near the top of pedal release. Solo is horrible for someone that uses the clutch very little. As you stated above, using the clutch is how it adjusts. I, to this day have never seen a solo adjust to its full useful life. A lot of fleets like them just so they don't have to adjust them. A manual adjust will long outlast a Solo in the right hands.

Paccar still installs manual adjust clutches with the 2.1M cabs/Hydraulic over air linkage. My guess is you can pick, cuz I have seen both.

Standard on 2.1M cab is solo... I fubared on first four T880 we ordered saying didn't want that solo garbage not knowing they had hydraulic with air assist clutches. Three out of four have needed a clutch and I put solo clutch in them. Have only had to replace one slave cylinder so far and no master cylinders. Switched to Ultrashifts on the newer ones.

Started buying the USPs in model year 2016 trucks. Some have a little over 400,000 on them now. We are pretty weight sensitive so we run 10 speeds in tractors. They replaced FRO16210c equipped tractors. Early model was a FO-16E310C-VAS, but later ones are the LAS. Only difference I see is VAS doesn't skip gears and the LAS doesn't have a pump support bracket on transmission. We run T880 in pneumatic division and 389 in end dump division. Have to say I like the Cobra shifters better in T880 vs pushbutton in 389. NCM_0110.JPG
You can see a T880 in back. 389 definitely looks better!
The USP has been pretty good, but like anything these days has had issues. Most common problems has been ECA's and rail/gear position faults. Usual issue with position faults has been oil intrusion into wiring harness spreading those cheapo metripack pins. Since I have the longest arms I usually get to lay with my chest pounded in the batteries and re-pin the connectors.
Drivers like them so I think we will continue to spec them. Eaton rep told me to hold off on Endurant. Seen one @ dealer the other day that was very low mileage with output bearing and case destroyed. Repair was going to be complete transmission replacement.

Pic of bearing on the Endurant. Under 200 miles. Seal was leaking so did have oil in it. maxim bearing .jpg
