The why shouldn't matter. I have a resposibility to my animals saftey and they should be responsible for mine which is directly tied to my pet. Isofar as the 'why' goes - my partner and I were first year rookies and bound to make the same mistakes first year rookies make. Covenant takes green drivers and expects them to drive like seasoned vets. They speak out of both sides of their mouths telling us not to run on ice and then writing us up for not running on it. In the 'covens' eyes it's called 'repeated unneccessary shutdoiwns'

I seriously doubt if there are any federal or state regulations requiring companies to provide transportation home for your dog. You had a choice, take Greyhound or find your own way home. You chose the later. Your only other option would have been to take the money for the bus ticket and get a rental car.Last edited: Apr 1, 2009

This is not a case of 'choice'. This is a case of employee safety. The dog was aboard with their knowledge, their consent, and payed for out of MY paycheck at $500 in $25 weekly increments. The company charges the eployee to have a pet aboard the rig.

Lawyer Up...
-
I hope this dont come off as me sticking up for your previous employer but after you were terminated they are not responsible for you or your dogs safety, you are. I dont doubt they are in the wrong somehow but I wouldnt think you have a case, but ya never know.........
-
Actually, you may have a case here, specifically because an animal is involved. I hate to say it, but you may want to contact PETA about your story(they may even have a lawyer for you). They might go after the company for malicious abuse of an animal(considering the dog almost froze).
Isn't it sad? Animal abuse/mistreatment would likely get greater results in this case than how the company treats it former employees(human beings). -
Then in that case, could, say, 'American Airlines' fire an american employee in Falujah and leave him to fend for himself in a war zone? -
Millions of farm animals are allowed to live out doors, and are as healthy as can be
There is no case with the dog!!!!
But I have always felt leaving a driver stranded across the country with no way home is wrong
But in this case you had a bus ticket -
True enough. LIVESTOCK! Moose, deer, wolves, birds, all which have adapted through eons of evolution to handle temperature extremes. NOT family pets! Careful, 'sir', your 'Christian' compassion is beginning to show!
