CFI/Trainco Perrysburg

Expect them to screw things up pretty good a few times at least, and to be strangely unprofessional about things that it would seem they should be able to do.

From my own experiences and what I have heard from others, I am fairly sure that at least some CDL schools intentionally #### up regularly, so they can find and fail the trainees that dont have the patience to deal with real world ####ups.

If you can't stay calm and collected in the classroom, they dont want you behind the wheel of an 80k pound missile on the interstate.

 

Sometimes I had the impression the entire school or training is a screwup. I once witnessed Covenant in Little Rock driving forward and back in a straight line on gravel about 50 feet or so taking turns for a hour until it got hot and everyone went eh... started talking next to it in the shade.

In my time we had a acre or so and were doing rodeos so to speak as competition late in course work to see which of us could beat the instructors best time at a variety of things. Our favorite was barrel racing, but that trailer had a habit of getting away rather easy so we didnt do it too much.

I would think the owners would take a dim view of their rigs being whipped around barrels as fast as they can go.

Perrysburg isn’t that bad actually... if you’re going for automatic, be prepared to use manual shift for all yard practice. You will use an automatic for all road driving (bobtail & w/ trailer). After you graduate using the automatics, if you are there for manual; they will start teaching you shifting on the road... Classes consist of Safety, turning, hazmat, map reading, logs, TAT, and a few others. You will learn drop&hook, straight line back, reverse lane change (left & right), parellel (blind side and driver side), and ally docking.

 

Did you take your final road test in an Auto?

 

Why would anybody intentionally go for manual, wouldn't that limit your ability to get a job? I guess I just don't get it, myself, but I would think if a guy is going to pay an out fit to learn to drive, he would want to learn to drive.
