1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Well I sure as hell tried..........

Verifying that you worked somewhere using W2 or such is not enough. DOT compliance regs require much more than that, like accident history and drug screen compliance. It's sad that companies that are going out of business are not making some kind of effort to help their former employees.

I wonder if it would be helpful to ask the company to fill out the forms and give them to the drivers during an exit process. Not sure how valid they would be due to possible "dressing up" by some drivers, but certainly better than a sharp stick in the eye. Or maybe have the company file them with DAC somehow?

If former employers can't be contacted or can't respond it's no big deal as far as FMCSA qualification goes .

True enough, however, think of it from the hiring manager's perspective. Say I have 2 candidates who are all equally qualified based on their applications. All things being equal, I'm following the path of least resistance. Right now there are too many drivers looking for work and as callous as it might seem, the one with all of their paperwork in order is going to get the job.

I was only suggesting that for those employers who are closing their doors, they are doing a huge disservice to their employees, and I offered a possible solution. I know that I would do whatever I could to help one of my employees if that were to happen to us.
