08 Cascadia S60 Detroit deleted. EGR is welded up. Engine was rebuilt by previous owner in Dec. Started using coolant. Used 2 gallons in 400 miles. Took it back to the shop that rebuilt it. They couldn't find anything wrong, said it was the turbo. Sounded like bs to me but my turbo was in bad shape so I replaced it. Still using coolant. Doesn't push it out of the tank. Just disappears. The surge tank does get a lot of pressure built in it. I'm pretty sure it's a cracked head oe bad gasket. It also cuts out really bad and seems to be getting worse aa it uses more coolant. Coolant isn't discolored. No coolant in the oil. Kind of at a loss here.

Is it blowing white smoke? Must be going out the stacks. Pin hole in liner maybe, or a cracked head, or a dropped liner, which will cause the head gasket to blow soon dumping coolant onto piston , and locking Engine up.unless Your lucky, maybe the head gasket is just leaking due to faulty installation. I can’t imagine why they said Turbo would cause that.Hope you get it figured out.

Just rebuilt, so maybe just bad gasket or bad liner installation on rebuild.

No white snoke at all. The shop called Central Detroit and that's what they told him since the turbo is liquid cooled. Hopefully it's just a headgasket and nothing else. I'm starting to lose patience with this. They had the truck for 6 days and I worked on it last week putting on the turbo. Ordered the turbo Monday, got it Wednesday, installed only to find out the oil supply line is cracked at the fitting and had to order it. Had to remove the turbo again just to access the oil line at the block. PITA. I guess these last S60 are kind of the ####### child and no one keeps parts. So 2 weeks off and they are going to look at it again in the morning.Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Is your radiator cracked?

I didn’t know they made a water cooled turbo for series 60. I’ve got an old one

I would call Detroit myself

They say it either goes in the oil, on the ground, or up the stacks.Unless you have a water type instead of air type trans cooler. If so it could be leaking. Make sure it’s not going into the trans
RustyBolt Thanks this. -
You have 14L engine. Did you have dpf filter?? This engine in that year had VGT turbo and actuator is coolant cooled.Rideandrepair Thanks this.
