This is a true story, I am not making this up. Few weeks ago, while unloading, a guy next to me asked how come I use paper log books and I told him I got a 99 engine.
After hearing that, he said he personally knows a local senator, and the senator told him that they are working on a device to install on 99 and older engines, to make them elog capable, that this device is coming in December of this year and he even went on telling me some of the technical details of that device.

    Satellite tracking makes elog possible.
    It's not rocket science.
But the ELD company wants engine data as well.
I do not know how they can get engine data from an mechanical diesel.

Elogs make plenty of sense. You need to get out of high school, get a CDL and get some experience before you start making assumptions of something you clearly have no experience with. Talking to other drivers, besides this site, is useless. You can be lead down the wrong path very quickly

Gliders are never going to be made illegal nation wide. You might see more states enact carb style legislation but that will be limited to high population centers like the northeast. Unless you live there who cares. Just like when California decided they no longer wanted my old truck, didn't effect my incone potential one bit. Plenty of freight to be hauled within the industrial hubs of the country like the great lakes, Midwest and south east.

As for elogs, nor a thing wrong with them and they work with 99% of the gliders being built. Only the oddball that wants a bmodel or big cam will have issues with that.
