I understand that part. I worked for Ryder my 1st 11yrs driving and worked for another company that leased from Penske. The reason I considered them is they fixed everything and anything then billed it back to the previous customer. Everytime I picked up a service replacement it was clean and serviced I never had to look at oil samples or anything outside a pretrip but I've seen the service manager getting samples ready.
I dont have my own authority. I was looking to lease onto Bruce Oakley or another specialized carrier, with no company driver to compete with.
Where to buy a used truck as an Owner Operator where do you look?

I like the type of trucking Bruck Oakley does.
With Bruce Oakley, don't you need a flat top or raised roof tractor vs. a condo?

I’m surprised to hear Ryder had good maintenance. The risk buying a Fleet Truck is the amount of Drivers it’s had. And how they drove it. Did they learn to shift in it? Low mileage rental cars are one thing. Even if abused a bit, still good. A Truck, different story. Notice “local” Trucks, low mileage yet almost destroyed. Ryder’s prices always seemed high to Me. Also plain Jane Trucks. I bought my trailer from Penske, Lol so I can’t say much bad about them. It was used as a shuttle trailer low miles. But price was right

I found my Truck on autotrader, like truckpaper, less trucks though. Craigslist is Giuliani of too good to be true scams, but many have found good deals there. I like eBay also, Never know what you’ll find, I prefer private party, but sometimes Dealers just have some good deals, It amazes Me how some people try to sell their junk as is, and overpriced.

Yes, bulk tanks. I figured specialized was better money and less competition than reefer or dry box.
I was looking at condos because that's what's most common. I'm gathering info snd options for now. This would be my 1st truck after 25yrs in the seat.
I'll probably be calling later in the week to talk to recruiter. -
