Last year on my 2017 Volvo with D13 and ishift, I got 6.8 mpg running mostly 65-70 some light loads but many heavy loads and hills. Took it to the dealership for a PM and come to find out, 3 injectors were clogged and no indication of it, they replaced them under warranty.
This week took a run to Ohio 10,000 lb load going 65, ran back empty and ended up 7.7mpg on the round trip.

No I wish I had 3:55 that' what I had in my century with a set service 60. Before that I had 3:70 in my condo with a n14+ I still havery to find it but I remember this truck has some weiRd ratio. That I never heard of before. You said you have something like a 2:64. That not the normal regular numbers, guy have mentioNed over the past 20 or so years. I'll find it, it should be on the door data plate but its not.

More hroses wouldn't lower my rpm. So I guess I shouldn' have mentioned it. Or better yet what I should have said. Was besides figuring out how to get better mileage. I ALSO wish I had more hill climbing torque. I have guys passing me in pa on I-80 all the time. I'm not used to that, because at my company 12,000lbs is considered a HEAVY load.

Found it 455 hp 13 speed eaton fuller 3:36 ratio. From past experience I should FLY down the road, crawl up a hill, and be getting 7mpg. But that is using my knowledge and experience. With 94,97, 2001 Detroits and cumming. All this new advanced electronics and epa requirements changes everything I guess.

Charge air system? Boost not making it to the intake manifold.

If your goal is to race up the hills, then fuel economy is going to suffer. The biggest improvement I saw to fuel mileage was being light on the accelerator and using the least amount of boost possible. It keeps my engine temperature lower as well while climbing.
If I use cruise control, I usually do 63 or 65 and get 6.5 to 7 mpg running CO, WY, ID, OR. That's with a D16 and 3.08 rears, I think it turns around 1200 rpm. -
My goal is not to fly up the hills. Please read my actual words as I tend to say what I mean and mean what I say. To paraphrase myself, from 25+ years past experiance. With my engine gears etc, I should be flying down the road, and still be getting 7+ mpg. Also I should not be getting past in the PA hills as what is considered heavy at my company. Is considered to extra light at most of the companies who are passing me. But my knowledge is from experiences with Detroit, and Cummins engines before all the emissions crappie was put on them.

I guess if you're tired of being passed, you could ask the other drivers to slow down.
