That is incorrect. Anti-idling laws make exception for pets.

MYTH 2: YOU CAN IDLE ILLEGALLY TO PROTECT A PET.
Thirteen states have animal cruelty laws that prohibit leaving pets in too-hot or too-cold vehicles, and all states have more general animal protection laws that ban abuse.

Additionally, dozens of cities, counties or states have anti-idling laws, with fines as high as $25,000. But you can’t break no-idle laws to keep your pet safe.

“One law would not supersede the other,” says Belinda Mager of the U.S. Humane Society. “You would have to comply with both laws.”

Enforcement of a penalty might come down to whether a judge is more pro-animal or more anti-idling, speculates Dr. Richard Crawford of the Animal Welfare Information Center. But there is no reason to expect mercy. While animal cruelty laws can be stringent — New York levies a maximum $1,000 fine — the smart owner-operator won’t risk breaking either law.

    RickG Thanks this.

You leave them outside to freeze yet you bring 'em inside when it rains?:biggrin_2554:
Also - your dogs were born and raised in Ohio, mine was born and raised for TEN years in Florida. Up north she only got outside the truck to potty and even the dog had enough brains to relize it was too cold to hang outside for long. We might see 30 degrees here in spurts for a few days at a time. 50 degress is cold down here. At 20 degrees even the fruit shrivels up. Whole groves have been destroyed at those temps.

I meant to say that anti-idling laws make NO exceptions for pets. Not enough caffeine yet this morning.:biggrin_25512:

When two laws mutually violate each other, one cannot possibly obey both. One would have to supercede the other, otherwise they cancel each other out and niether apply. That's why we have courts and judges - to decide supercession.
