I just read an article in the Canadian trade tag “truck news”. The writer was lamenting How (in spite of OTA sponsored speed limiters being around for a decade) fatalities involving trucks increased to a 10 yr high in 2017 (latest data available). Then he proceeded to hint paper logs were the problem with no mention of imported truckers also being at a 10 yr high. Coincidence? I think not.

The rags are bought and paid for by the Lobby groups.

Want to clean up trucking? Start by allowing the media to show the name on the side of the truck instead of blurring it out. Let them print the name of the driver and the company owner and the associated safety record. Get MADD involved.

You are handier than I. It takes me 5 days just to put part of one back together! I would contribute 5 days just to learn from you and Wore, except I would probably just in the way.

In no way shape or form am I supporting they ATA. However they figured out how to play ball. They government didn't care about the ATA until the ATA had the cash. They are a organized group of turds that are controlling the industry with bottom feeder drivers that make up a small percentage of the industry. This is smart and well planned to appear to fight for the driver and co. All the while only care is profit. Now what is are fault as a group of independents that manage the largest sector of the trucking industry is you can't get two of us to agree if its raining out. I despise the ATA and Chris Spear's. But they played a better game boys, we let them.

Question is What are you gonna do about it?

I editorialize to these magazines and TTR. I save dash cam video. I call company safety departments and the cops

I keep a clean driving record and loss run with a ELD and Speed limiter exempt truck. They said that last one couldn’t be done

All in the planning..... 3 good men can have that truck ready for paint and a inspection sticker in a week. Course the first 2 hours would be coffee and BS time :).

No one will agree but here is how I see it getting done. If your independent, or small business truckers you need to belong to OOIDA. It dont matter if you agree with everything or not. They have attorneys. Second since OOIDA is not a union, form a Small business union to contribute to OOIDA. We become there largest player and they represent us. With the unity comes control. We would have just made a SuperPac with average joe's and the ATA could get hurt. Never sit around and wine, learn how to beat them at the game they created. This is why I like to study my adversaries.
