In Cali they do. Unless Cali has changed the law. Before I even got my CDL I heard drivers bitcin about how the dog's life was worth more than the drivers. How the driver could be sentenced to cook in the Mohave or freeze at Donner depending on the season

California's law does not make an exception any longer.

Is that to mean that ALL drivers who live a lonely enough life on the road should give up even the company of a dog thereby becoming even more lonely? Mind you, I don't advocate breaking the law, but unreasonable laws should be challenged, and, unfortunately, more often than not, to challenge a law one must break it. -
If you want a job driving a truck, you should come to work prepared to work. I can't figure out why anyone would think the cab of a truck is a good place for a dog to be.
If you want to work, lose the dog. -
Don't take the Wife either. Trucking companies can fire you for looking at them the wrong way. They are hurting for frieght and fireing people at will (and getting away with it)
The Wife (true story) Driver coming into Ariz terminal, He quelcoms corp. for permission to pick wife up from house in Kingman, Az and to take to Phoenix terminal to file out necessary paperwork, so she can come along on the next load.
Corp responds on quelcom back to driver that its okay!
Driver pulls into Phoenix term and is Immediately Fired for having her on board with out permision.Last edited: Apr 3, 2009

I have a feeling this is a myth. I don't see a NYC cop deciding to not give you a ticket because you have a pet in your truck. Those guys could care less. The pet may get you out of the ticket if you go to court and fight it, but come on, who in the hell has the time for that? I certainly don't.

Another reason NOT to have a pet in a COMPANY truck. The truck is the property of the COMPANY, and the COMPANY can fire you at will. Even though you paid a "pet deposit" to the COMPANY, they are not responsible for YOUR pet. they gave YOU money to get home, that was all you can EXPECT. An O/O can have a zoo in his truck if he chooses, a company driver is an EMPLOYEE who must have PERMISSION to have the animal in the truck. Do you really think it would be THEIR responsibility to see that YOUR dog got home? They did not "hire" your dog!MrMustard Thanks this.

Some folks just like to argue. Then others just can't believe that they are not 100% right, all the time. And even others just like to whine and snivel.
And of course, it is ALWAYS somebody else's fault, no matter what happened.
GROW UP!TIMEWEASEL Thanks this. -
