I read your whole post again a couple times and even though I still don't know a lot of what you're saying I think I understand better ... except how the hell are you getting all these miles? Did I miss something? With Swift on a good week I'd get 2400 and with speed limits and 11 hour days I don't see how someone could run 3900 miles. So basically with the miles I was running I'd end up owing a couple hundred each week? This is confusing

I am not to up on things but i asked my hubby if it was possible to drive that much legaly and he said this week he drove 3,845 and it was all legal. I think the best option if you must lease a truck is to become a trainer. Its one way to know that you will make money. Hes kinda in the same boat, cr was the only place that said yes. This is what my husband plans to do. He explained it something like he can drive 660 miles a day at 60 miles an hour 11 hours a day. I dont know if that will help you any. He said his trainer told him he avereges between 3,500-4,000 a week.

That's gotta be cutting it pretty close, considering CRE is all reefer (right?) so they'd all be live loads. I don't know how CRE does their live-load/unload scheduling, but TransAm and Swift gives you too much time to get where you need to go and companies rarely let you deliver early. Plus you can only drive 70 hours in 8 days ... I don't know, man, if you're relying on 3000+ miles to not go under, I'd be pretty scared each day.

Anyway I don't know how I feel about driving for CRE because I hear that even when you're leasing they treat you like a slave.

My husband is not a trainer he is with a trainer. The trainer said he averages 3,500+ miles per week. He was pretty honest with my husband that if you want to make the lease work you do have to run alot. But he said he is about to become an onwer operator now. Hes gotta be making descent money, he got a family at home and he basicly been taking care of my hubby buying him food and showers. He said he remembered what it was like to be a trainee and be broke. He also said it is VERY important to get a good DM.

Some of the trainers are nice there! They make good money off of trainees so i feel like they should help out when you first get on the truck! However my trainer treated me at first then asked for his money back when i got paid! Anyway he had me running longer then i was suppose to and falsifying my logs..i was new to driving a tractor but not new to trucking so i gladly took out the last $20 bill i owed him and told him i was getting off his truck! If CR England had the school by itself then when you passed you could decide if you wanted to work there it would be good! Love the school not the company!

:biggrin_2554:wooooohhhhaaaaa, back it up right there.

talk to more than one trainer. It's not as easy as get out there and drive. they earn that money. 120 hour weeks, handholding, compassion concern, understanding , discipline, tact, subtleness.

One student of mine (good guy) had what i would describe as hyperthyroidism. Very lean, had to constantly eat...went batsh*T when he got hungry....think MUST STOP NOW...this was like every three hours.

    he was 45 years old!

The real story is he was very lite on cash, with 2 young ones at home under 12, an oldr son of 18 and a working wife. So he come outa the truck stop one day, and says he gave his last seven dollars to a hardluck case on the curb. I thought nothing of it--- til that night when he asked ME for $40 bucks to eat with!!!! This is after I saw him plunking quarters in the video games, one after the other!
Needless to say, i said NO F***** WAY! straight to his face, and I told him why. I said, look, I've got responsibilities myself, my family, my obligations. There's no way I'm GIVING you a dime, because your reckeless with money. I said , I'll buy you dinner tonight, you won't owe me anything, and that's it. When you get your next advance , you'd better save it.

I've got more trainer stories if you want to be assured of our earning the money. Every dime of it.

Here is a break down of the lease pay package. There are other deductions that can be taken out of your check such as Downtime Fund, Insurance, Discount card etc. This is just a simple break down. Hope it helps.

    Pay = 90 cpm > 1000 miles
Goes up to 1.50 for miles < 1000 miles (sliding scale)

    Fixed Costs :

    Truck Payment = 455 $
    Insurance = 211 $

    Variable costs

    .12 - maintenace
    .14 - variable mileage payment
    .015 - fuel tax reserve

    Fuel # 1.25 a gallon (special program)

    Elective Deductions

.10 - quartely tax reserve (this is multiplyed against total income, you can adjust .10 - .12 is advised)

    100 $ - cash advance

There are other elective deductions that can be added, but i'll keep it simple.

    Average miles = 2700

Pay / Fixed and variable Costs

    2700 miles # .90 = 2430 $
    maintenance # .12 = 324 $
    variable mileage payment # .14 = 378 $
    fuel tax reserve # .015 = 40.50 $
    fuel # (2700 / 6 mpg) x 1.25 = 565.50
    Truck Payment = 455 $
    Truck Insurance = 211 $

    Income

    2430 - 324 -378 - 40.50 - 565.50 - 455 - 211 = 456

    Total Income = 456 $

    Elective Deductions

    cash advance = 100 $
    quaterly tax reserve = 456 x .10 = 45.6 $

    Total check

    456 - 100 - 45.6 = 310.40 $$$$

    GOVOLS !!!!!!
