Brand new out of CDL school.
Driving since I was 16, now age 52:
Tickets: Absolutely zero, ZERO EVER
Accidents: One fender bender last summer, was likely my fault. I rear-ended a woman as she cut into my lane and breaked hard. I was not cited. No ticket, etc.
Criminal record: One dismissed misdemeanor from three years ago.
I've applied to several companies. Some are still processing things. Two have turned me down due to the accident? WTF?
Any way around this?
1 fender bender enough to prevent me from job as new driver?

I've applied for like ten jobs and everyone wants to hire me until that #### minor fender bender comes up. They are classifying it a "preventable accident" funny thing is, there was no fault stated during the time to officer came. They were gone in five minutes. I was not cited, so? But on the report, it "leans" to be my fault since I hit the rear are of her car.
And yeah, I'm in Raleigh, ready to go to work! LOL.Chinatown Thanks this. -
Raleigh, NC?
have you tried Epes, out of Greensboro?
or go to a smaller company.darinmac38 Thanks this. -
I applied with them this evening. Thank you! Anyone know of any other suggestions? I'm totally baffled by all this. It's amazing how much on a non human you are with trucking companies, even when you get a recruiter on the phone. I've worked a combined, 18 years past employment and have NEVER once called out sick or missed a day and never been late. I have a good background and all they give a rat's behind about in that $500 fender bender. Nevermind driving for 35 years without a single ticket or accident. Nah, just get me a copy of that report, so I can boot you out of my system here and get back to hiring my five time felon over here.
I'd like to revamp a few of these so called HR departments at these places already and I haven't even started. LOLChinatown Thanks this. -
Which companies have you applied with so far?

Schneider
UsXpress
TMC
McElroy
Cargo Transporters
JB Hunt
Maverick
EPES
All initially indicated they wanted to hire me, until that fender bender came up.Chinatown Thanks this. -

Thank you! Not sure if I can do long term team driving. But hey, I'll look into them. EPES says three accidents within 5 years, so I might be GTG with them.
Oh and all the others say in June, when the accident has been a year, they'd hire me. LOL. Where is the common sense?Chinatown Thanks this. -
