I'm seeing a lot of newbie drivers doing this lately

Also note that it is not covering a merge situation. Just a passing scenario. Additionally each state has different regulations, most do not specifically state a vehicle type.

Following too closely.
(1) The driver of a motor vehicle shall not follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard for the speed of such vehicles and the traffic upon and the condition of the highway.
(2) The driver of any motor truck or motor vehicle drawing another vehicle when traveling upon a roadway outside of a business or residence district and which is following another motor truck or motor vehicle drawing another vehicle shall, whenever conditions permit, leave sufficient space so that an overtaking vehicle may enter and occupy such space without danger, except that this shall not prevent a motor truck or motor vehicle drawing another vehicle from overtaking and passing any like vehicle or other vehicle.
(3) Motor vehicles being driven upon any roadway outside of a business or residence district in a caravan or motorcade whether or not towing other vehicles shall be so operated as to allow sufficient space between each such vehicle or combination of vehicles so as to enable any other vehicle to enter and occupy such space without danger. This provision shall not apply to funeral processions.

 

Yup, he's dinosaur old though he hasn't much longer to live he requires a machine to keep alive he has multiple organs that are just shutting down. He cannot speak anymore. they expect him dead within the week but the fact remains he's tough to survive longer than most. He's ready I think has been wanting to meet back with his wife for years.

 

Sounds like a real character. Probably some good stories too.

 

He was stubborn to the point you can't persuade him he is or was ever wrong apparently expectation was his wife say he was wrong and he would say okay dear. an example could be anything the tires could be flat and he says they are fine however that said anything vehicle-related was in tip-top shape even when he could no longer drive. He took pride in his cars, trucks how they looked no one was allowed to even breath on them. if you did you were gonna be one to clean it top to bottom to his standards

 

Now that's just too much like common sense.

 

Had one yesterday - I rarely call a safety department, but this time I did.

Going through Muskogee - Risinger - he’s in lane 3 of 3, I’m in 2.

He hangs his arm out the window and points left, two blinks on the signal, and yanks it on over. Had to stomp the brakes to avoid getting smashed.

Reason he did it? Lane ended maybe a half mile up. Nothing in front of him, no reason.

I was polite with the gal in safety - told her I don’t mind working with drivers out here, but this guy is probably going to cause you grief.

 

The thing is, we have posters here expressing that kind of attitude and worse...that they'll actually run someone into the ditch for not showing them "courtesy"...for not obeying the commands issued by their turn signal...and they get 20 thanks for it here.
It's like...Yeah, I'm all about courtesy. So if you don't hold the door open for me at the truck stop, I'll go pull your fifth wheel.
Or if you're smaller than me, punch you in the face.

 

So you've had a mile to think about it, and you still haven't discovered the option of simply staying in your own lane and slowing down. Or you have thought about it, and decided you'd rather kill someone. Cute.

 

Let's say I see a truck on the shoulder and I have my signal on to get over for the last 30 seconds, as always nobody lets me over. In the last 7-8 seconds the idiot on the shoulder pulls into traffic going less than 10mph. If I hit him from behind I'm dead. I take the chance and put you into a grassy median seems like a much better option.
