Need to learn how to shift without reaching thru the streering wheel, thats a NO,No! But he didnt do to bad.
Classic!johndeere4020 Thanks this. -
I have yet to see a clip of ANYBODY not reaching through the steering wheel. Ive probably watch 20 or so and they all do that.
-
That's how my dad explained the routine too.
-
Right or wrong reaching thru the steering wheel with a 2 stick OR a 3 stick was and is how its done.
While at the Cat shop the other day there was a 379 Peterbilt Legacy there that had a 18 speed main 5 speed aux and a 2 speed axel, add all that up and it has 180 gear combos!!! Shame it was a heavy haul truck
-
About reaching through, there is a video on youtube (shifting twinstick) and he does'nt reach through OR scratch a gear!!!!! Real sweet vid.
-
and that was the way I was taught as well.
Prime example of how bad habits are made.
Really doesn't matter as long as you can get the load delivered
-
That sounds like a really big truck?
-
how is he able to do the shift at :27, I thought it was a big no-no to have both trans out of gear when rolling
Ok i did find one where he isnt reaching through the wheel but his levers are in a good location that he dont have to

180?! ####, that's a lot of gears...Anybody knows what ratios do it has? In first and 180th gear?
Or at least ratios of that aux. gearbox...
