Well said. I've had filters clog fast. I used to swap mine once they hit the change line. I'd change them out in a few minutes.
Change filter. You should keep a davco wrench and at least 3 filters on your truck at all times.
check fuel filter light..full davco fuel/water separator

Also, many fuel stops are blending biodiesel in the fuel, even in winter. When temps go into the basement, filters will clog up significantly quicker. I use a Davco and it is a piece of cake to change the filters when I need to. I carry a few spares and some fuel in a container for putting in the bowl after the filter change. I NEVER reuse fuel I drain from the Davco to change filters and NEVER put it back in the tank.

You have to wonder how many early inj failures are caused by the plague of old school pre filling of engine fuel filters, especially on the high pressure systems like Volvo.

Hello fellas,
On my Volvo vnl with cummins isx 15 rebuild engine 100k ago, notice when idling check light is coming on. Went thru the diagnostic on the dash and it is throwing the code
SA 0 SPN 97 FMI3. I called the dudes in cummins but they are saying that is some issue with fuel/water separetor which i never had that issue before and don’t know much about it. I tried to drain it when i was doing my delivery and till i get home it was full again. I also notice when i go on uphil with a load 40k checklight is comimg on and right away i climb the hill and take off the foot from gas pedal it goes away and like that all day. So i don’t know if it’s the same code or something because while driving that code comes and goes away. Any help would be appreciate and if fixed i will post back. Thank you! -
Probably bad fuel from a truckstop, please read all of the previous posts. They are very helpfull. People gave time to answer the questions. You might find a solution to your problem.

I’m back guys. I did replace the fuel water separetor filter. It was black and was filling up so fast, now since i changed it, of course did it by my self cause it is so easy 5 minute job. After i changed it i fill it with clean diesel fuel and since then it stays empty. Is that how supposed to be ? I can barely see fuel on the bottom so i guess this filter is doing it’s job. Btw check engine fault light with the same code for the filter is still here. Any advice ?

It will stay at the bottom for the first couple thousand miles unless you got really bad fuel. Codes conditions are rechecked at every start of the engine and after 4 hours of continuous driving. Try shutting down more often not in a traffic

Okay. I just changed the oil and replace the filter again it was dirty on the bottom, anyway i will let you guys know if the code will dissapear or if that was the issue. Thank you @Newto Trucking
